Instead of watintg for, I instlled a pps under UBUNTU mate 17.04, which runs fine. I currently assemble a lots of panorama and mosaic huge image (around 20 JPEG - 200Mpx) from my trip in French Alps, and all work as expected with hugin 2016.2 and digiKam 5.7.0 pre-release. Which version of Hugin do you have installed on your system? Note that I too have an error with panorama and autooptimiser, but the error is on missing control points.
