I remember applying a fix for this about a year ago or so. The problem was that
Kate and the KTextEditor-component handled URLs a bit different. The problem at
the time was soft-linked files that opened up the link or the resolved file,
while the component opened the other.
This should be fixed in newer versions of Kate. Please try a newer version of
Kate. If you still get the same problem with the newest version please reopen.
I'm not able to reproduce it with latest version at least.
