Investigated some more - there is response SMS in the factory-default Android
app called Messaging (that is unused and not default now), but there is none in
Signal.

OK, you are right. I just tested it with a friend sitting next to me. Actually,
the response / SMS is sent, but there is no record of it in Android / Signal.
Is it possible to add this record? Otherwise, it's confusing
