It seems that this report is related to a very old unmaintained version. A lot
changed since then and it is likely that this has been fixed (I can not
reproduce). Feel free to reopen this bug or create a new report if this is
still happening with the latest version (https://kdenlive.org/en/download/)

Confirmed. AppImage 18.08.3 -> text in title clip gets the gradient only after
double click the text.

Windows 18.08.2 -> same behavior as under Linux but a gradient title can not be
saved (save button is grayed out)

UPDATE: Pressing "OK" does in fact apply the color effect, but the color
changes aren't seen when re-entering the Title Editor. The user can't properly
see what the text looks like to edit it.
