So far we don't have any solution but patches are always welcome! I confirm, it's very buggy. It seems like it's trying to always show an active tab. As a workaround you may use Ctrl+Tab, Ctrl+Shift+Tab or Ctrl+], Ctrl+[ for tab switching.
