GREAT NEWS!

KStars Mac 3.4.2 to StellarMateOS 1.5.2 -- Guide Via show Celestron CGX
KStars Mac 3.4.3 to StellarMateOS 1.5.2 -- Guide Via show Celestron CGX
StellarMateOS 1.5.2 -- Guide Via show Celestron CGX
KStars Mac 3.4.2 Direct USB -- Guide Via show Celestron CGX

It appears that Celestron CGX is now back in the Guide Via dropdown. I wasn't
able to test it because I had the gear set up in my living room, but may be
able to test it tonight.

Side note: It would be really great if we had an easy way to update the INDI
drivers on the Mac without waiting for a KStars release.

I don't see anything in the change log that might indicate that it is fixed. I
would be happy to install the latest INDI if there was a standalone installer
or an updated KStars/Ekos, but there isn't. I'm looking into how to compile
from source, but I'm not a *nix developer. I downloaded the source, now do I
just open Terminal and lcd to that directory and type make indiserver and make
indiserver and make drivers? I just wiped and rebuilt my Mac and want to make
sure this is correct before I proceed (I saw many discussions about how to
compile INDI without KStars in the forums). Thanks.

Hi Jasem/Chris, just checking in to see if there has been any progress on this
one. I would be shocked if I was the only one affected by this -- my hardware
configuration of a CGX mount with ASI174MM Mini guide cam is pretty common.
Thanks!

I hope this log worked. I was connected to the RPi via Ekos Remote from my
Mac; the KStars log ended up on the Mac, but the mount debug log ended up on
the RPi.

I have flashed 1.5.1 to RPi4 and will try it tonight, but note the logs from
last night used KStars 3.4.1 that was released just a couple days ago. Were
there Celestron INDI updates since then? I don't see a date on the Celestron
NextStar INDI page. Does KStars 3.4.1 not include an update that StellarMate
OS 1.5.1 has?

I feel like we're a bit stuck in a rut of updating to the latest version and
re-capturing logs (even though I seem to be running the latest version). Did
the logs from KStars 3.4.1 show anything?

It's highly recommended to flash SM OS v1.5.1 to your StellarMate and test
that. It has the latest Celestron driver and then we can check reliably for
issues there. Can you please update and report back?

Sorry about the misunderstanding. When I get home tonight I'll try to track
that other log down.

In regards to updating INDI: On the Mac, I'll download and install KStars
3.4.1 that you just released. I'm not aware of a way to update just INDI on
the Mac.

On StellarMate OS, is the best way to update Indi to use the StellarMate App to
update to the latest KStars/INDI? I'm generally not afraid of APT-GET, but
that and the Software Update Utility on the desktop of StellarMate OS 1.4.x
pretty reliably either broke my KStars install (RPi3) or the entire software
update mechanism (RPi4). I flashed those poor SD cards probably 15 times
before I finally decided to not update after flashing, and it's been much more
stable since. I did try it last week on RPi4/OS 1.5.0, but it didn't find any
updates at the time.

I was looking for the KStars log file, not the individual mount log since the
former contains a lot more data once debug is enabled. At any rate, can you
please update to the latest INDI and test again?

Another interesting observation: I hooked up my old RPi3 running Kstars 3.3.9
and the Celestron CGX guide option appeared immediately and seems to work fine
-- and this is even when I'm controlling it remotely from KStars 3.4.0 on the
Mac via INDI.

My earlier comment wondering if this was a UI issue with the dropdown appears
to be invalidated.

Celestron CGX (debug) + CCD Simulator Log

This is the debug log you asked for, with the mount set to debug plus only the
CCD simulator. Question, I once saw a similar issue with a dropdown in one of
your apps; I forget where exactly it was, but I had two options but only one
appeared in the list even though everything else operated fine. Is it possible
the dropdown just isn't enumerating all the list options completely?

It is definitely set to EQ N, according to the INDI Control Panel UI at least.
And I was tracking appropriately. I will try to get the other log tonight.

Try to do this.

1. Create new profile
2. Turn off "Auto connect"
3. Select Celestron + CCD Simulator
4. Start Profile
5. Make sure debug is turn on in INDI COntrol Panel --> Celestron
6. Connect Celestron in INDI Control Panel.

Submit the log.

Jasem -- I tried this multiple times, making no changes in between. One time,
the Celestron CGX guide option showed up. I cannot figure out how it showed
up. I had disconnected from the devices, but not stopped the INDI profile and
had not disconnected any power or USB cables from devices. As soon as I
disconnected and reconnected, it was gone and I cannot get it back. So somehow
this issue is intermittent. Could it be an issue with the order in which the
INDI drivers load and connect?

I just have tried this 20 times but could not get it back.

Two logs attached, for my ASI294MC-Pro and ASI174MM-Mini guider combination.

I also tried my ASI1600MM, EFW and ASI174MM0Mini guider configuration, and that
has a similar but not identical issue.

For the ASI294MC-Pro, I can see ONLY the ASI174MM in the Guide Via menu.

For the ASI1600MM-Pro, I can see BOTH the ASI174MM and ASI1600mm in the Guide
Via menu.

Under no circumstances can I see the Celestron CGX mount that I had used
previously to receive the guiding pulses. I looked over the INDI control panel
in detail, but A) I didn't change anything between KStars releases and B) I
don't see anything that might prevent me from using the mount as a guide route.
