Hmm, this is really strange... The squash effect animates minimized/unminimized
windows.

I had followed the instructions in STEPS TO REPRODUCE, but even after so many
attempts, I haven't managed to reproduce the bug...

The window was still there after disabling fade effect, but disappeared after
disabling squash. I was testing it on the fly without restarting kwin.
