[kwin] [Bug 517961] Background content behind some fullscreened apps flashes briefly and randomly around the edges when sharing a monitor via OBS "Screen Capture (PipeWire)" on KDE Plasma Wayland
https://bugs.kde.org/show_bug.cgi?id=517961 Marvin1099 changed: What|Removed |Added CC||[email protected] --- Comment #4 from Marvin1099 --- Can confirm on KWin 6.7.3 (NVIDIA), frequency scales with scene blending work Same flicker: windows/background briefly flash through the desktop in OBS "Screen Capture (PipeWire)", visible in the recording. Arch/Garuda on fully up-to-date packages: KWin 6.7.3, NVIDIA RTX 5060 Ti (driver 610.43.03), kernel 7.1.5-zen, OBS 32.1.2, PipeWire 1.6.8. env | grep -E 'KWIN|NV' on my system: INVOCATION_ID=bce87503e50441ee996306f34f9ebcaa KWIN_DRM_NO_DIRECT_SCANOUT=1 NVCC_CCBIN=/usr/bin/g++-15 KWIN_DRM_NO_DIRECT_SCANOUT=1 I set manually and it has no effect on the flicker; NVCC_CCBIN is just the CUDA compiler path, unrelated to KWin. Other observations: - On-screen display is clean; corruption only visible in the capture. - No kwin_screencast/fence errors in the journal at blink time. Frequency scales with how much alpha-blending KWin has to do: - Blur + Better Blur effects on → constant blinking - Blur/Better Blur disabled → rare - Plus window transparency disabled → rarer still Remaining blinks are usually triggered by clicking/focusing another window or switching windows. Notes: - Whole-monitor and whole-screen rectangular region capture both flicker (this differs from the original report, where region capture was clean, at least for me). - Window capture never flickers. - Possibly related reports that are now closed: 517961 (closed as fixed) and 513182 (closed as duplicate of 511527). My residual flicker persists on 6.7.3. Happy to test anything, including extra debug logging. AI says (may be useful may not be): The scaling with blur/translucency plus the stacking-change trigger strongly suggests the output screencast's re-render leaves unwritten regions on NVIDIA's explicit-sync path (the same path that needed the "Implicit sync is broken on Nvidia" workaround). -- You are receiving this mail because: You are watching all bug changes.

Nothing specific on my side. Anyways, I think the issue got resolved when I updated to KDE Plasma 6.6.4, because I haven't had problems since, so I will go ahead and close the bug report. -- You are receiving this mail because: You are watching all bug changes.

https://bugs.kde.org/show_bug.cgi?id=517961 [email protected] changed: What|Removed |Added CC||[email protected] --- Comment #1 from [email protected] --- This also happens to me on Nobara Linux using KDE Plasma + Wayland, although I used Flatseal to make OBS use X11 rather than Wayland so my keyboard shortcuts would work. I believe the bug began early to mid January, based on looking at my old recordings. -- You are receiving this mail because: You are watching all bug changes.
