cannot confirm on Arch Linux, plasma 5.12.1.
I tested simple menu and netowrk monitor mentioned in comment 4.

Is there a way to determine when addon isn't working properly after installing
- and maybe mark it with some label - like 'may not work' or something in
addons list?
