I just mentioned Gnome as a similar UI with the requested functionality. There are other examples as the system config tools of Fedora which integrate in the xfce and mate settings (control panel) which I don't remember how they are called (but I can find them and provide some screenshots if you want me to). However, I believe that a simple "apply system wide" button similar to the "sync" button of the sddm would be the best UI decision.
