Call for Mentors (and Admins) for Season of KDE 2021

2020-09-10 Thread Caio Jordão Carvalho
Hello, people!

As discussed in the SoK/GSoC BoF that we had yesterday, our plan is
to start the next edition of Season of KDE soon. But first we need to
include
some ideas in our ideas page and, most importantly, *we need mentors*! So
if you want to participate as a mentor in the next SoK, please join us and
include
your project idea in the ideas page (
https://community.kde.org/SoK/Ideas/2021).

Another important detail is that we need some SoK admins to help to organize
the program. If you want to contribute with that, please let me know.

Best,
Caio

Call for mentors and project ideas for Google Summer of Code 2020

2020-01-16 Thread Caio Jordão Carvalho
Hello, people.

Google has announced that GSoC 2020 organization applications are now open
and it will close on February 5th [1]. We have an ideas page in the wiki
[2], but it doesn't have a good number of projects there for now, so try to
include some ideas there ASAP because we can use that to see if there are a
sufficient number of contributors interested in mentoring during this GSoC
edition.

Best,
Caio Jordão Carvalho

Call for Mentors and Project Ideas for Season of KDE 2020

2019-11-07 Thread Caio Jordão Carvalho
Hello, everyone!

After a one-year hiatus since the last edition of Season of KDE in 2018, we
have started to make plans for the next edition!

But before announcing the program, we need to have a significant number of
mentors and interesting projects. Now we have an Ideas Page (
https://community.kde.org/SoK/Ideas/2020) where mentors can list their
projects. Remember that SoK is more general than GSoC, so these ideas are
not limited only to coding tasks and you can include projects related to
documentation, artwork, translation, reports and other types of work as
well as code.

Now we have this timeline schedule and the announcement post is going to be
published soon, so we need to include the ideas on the page now.

The timeline is:

2nd December 2019 - 3th January 2020: Participant and Mentor Application
period

6th January 2020: Projects announced

8th January 2020, 00:00 UTC: SoK work period begins

17th February 2020, 23:59 UTC: End of work

21th February 2020: Results announced

28th February 2020: Certificates issued

Beginning of Q3 2020: Merchandise and Swag sent out by courier

That's all for now, folks!

Best,
Caio
