[kde-community] Fundraising group -- was Re: KDE fundraisers and things we've learned
El Dilluns, 22 de desembre de 2014, a les 21:00:25, Mario Fux va escriure: Good morning dear KDE people After KDE's first fundraiser (crowdfunding attempt) in 2012 [1] we had (or it's still ongoing) six more this year: - For the Randa Meetings 2014 [2] - For Krita: open source digital painting | Accelerate Development [3] - For Tupi: 2D Animation Software for Everyone! [4] - Make the World a Better Place! - KDE End of Year 2014 Fundraising [5] - New Unified Graphics for GCompris [6] - Kommander [8] Did I forget one? And all these had different ratios of success. kdenlive, various amarok ones years ago. What we definitely need is better coordination and communication. Totally What do you think, would a fundraising workgroup help? Not really a group that's doing a fundraising but that's there to help, coordinate and teach and distribute their knowledge. I think this is a must, i tried to get people to join kde-ev-campa...@kde.org to coordinate this kind of stuff, but seems i failed since you didn't even suggest it ;) I don't care were do we coordinate, but we should coordinate. Why i think it's a must? Fundraising is not trivial, getting comments/suggestions or even active help from people that have done fundraisers before is going to really boost your chances of success. Proposal: Addition to the Manifesto of KDE [7] and there to the Commitments section. Something like: all KDE projects coordinate their financial work (better wording?) with the KDE e.V. (board?) Not sure the manifesto thing makes sense, it took us quite a while to agree on the manifesto and i'd like to think we can just be sensible people without the manifesto telling us to be :D Cheers, Albert ___ kde-community mailing list kde-community@kde.org https://mail.kde.org/mailman/listinfo/kde-community

I did join that mailing list. I didn't post, I think, even though I should be working hard on the next Krita fund raiser. For instance, I cannot afford to postpone a Krita campaign if that means I can no longer pay for Dmitry... On hte other hand, I think I've made good progress with getting Krita awareness out beyond the kde/free software/linux world, so it isn't that urgent, I think we can try and tie in links and mentions of KDE to a bigger extent in our next campaign.
