Re: Framework testing

2018-02-04 Thread Nate Graham

I'll tell you what I do, at the risk of embarrassing myself.

I do all my development in a KDE Neon VM. When I need to patch or test a
framework, I make a snapshot in the VM in case things go bad, then
deploy the patched/edited framework to /usr (`cmake
-DCMAKE_PREFIX_PATH=/usr && make && sudo make install) and then open a
program that uses the framework to test out the change. For
baloo-widgets for example, the changes would be visible in Dolphin.

This is probably pretty caveman-level, but it works for me so far.

I posted my question already on Google+ and Mykola Krachkovsky was so

I just want to know how can I test these frameworks where I made code
adjustments? I can compile them and see if there are any errors but I
until now I don't know how can I check if my code ist also working
properly.

To be more precise let's say I am working on the KNewFileMenu from KIO
and the MetaDataWidget from baloo-widgets, how does it work to test these?

I apologize it this is a stupid question but I didn't find an answer on
my own.
