Formatting / indenting Docbook files

Hello, I'd like to know how to properly indent Docbook files, as properly indented XML is much more readable. A simple xmllint --format does not work (tags get jumbled together), and xmllint --loaddtd --noent is the only way I found to make it work, but it translates all entities into tags,
