Hi,
in my past six or seven projects I've tested final rendering of these projects
using three MLT threads (not counting ffmpeg multithreading for decoding and
encodingy). My results were always very positive: a speedup between 2x and 2.5x
in rendering and never any corruption or memory issues. Before, my i7 rrely got
above 30% usage, now I get 80%, and more, depending on what compositing madness
I do in my projects.
I'm thus asking to add an experimental feature to the master branch to enable
MLT rendering using between 1 and 3 threads. The current multithread rendering
option instead controls ffmpeg decoding and encoding and can be kept as is;
albeit I suggest changing its textual description to better reflect its nature.
With best regards, Harald
