[Bug 259293] New: Find messages in kmail2 has bugged drop down list of message parts to search

2010-12-09 Thread Gregor Petrin
https://bugs.kde.org/show_bug.cgi?id=259293

Summary: Find messages in kmail2 has bugged drop down list of
message parts to search
   Product: kmail2
   Version: 2.0.89
  Platform: openSUSE RPMs
OS/Version: Linux
Status: UNCONFIRMED
  Severity: normal
  Priority: NOR
 Component: general
AssignedTo: kdepim-bugs@kde.org
ReportedBy: gre...@gmail.com

Version: 2.0.89 (using KDE 4.5.85)
OS:Linux

If I open the search dialog and want to change the part of the message in which
I want to perform the search (e.g. Subject, Body of Message), the control does
not properly update when I change my selection.

For example, if I manually input 'Body' in there and then open the drop down
menu and choose something else, this something else does not appear in the
dialog. Also, if I just pick one thing from the drop down menu and then pick
something else, the previously selected item becomes cut off after about 15
letters with no hint of the just selected item. If I then pick different things
in the drop down menu, I get weird different results.

For example, when the dialog opened, I first chose 'All recipients' and then
changed it to 'Anywhere in the headers' and now the text 'All recipien Headers'
appears in the control with the letter 'n' somehow misshaped. I think this is a
visual bug because if I choose 'Size in Bytes' the control text is still wierd
(currently 'All Recipienes') but the search terms field has changed into a
numeric input and currently says '0 bytes' (which seems a weird default, but
that's besides the point :)).

Reproducible: Always

[Bug 259297] New: IDLE does not work for IMAP messages

2010-12-09 Thread Gregor Petrin
https://bugs.kde.org/show_bug.cgi?id=259297

Summary: IDLE does not work for IMAP messages
   Product: Akonadi
   Version: 1.4.80
  Platform: openSUSE RPMs
OS/Version: Linux
Status: UNCONFIRMED
  Severity: normal
  Priority: NOR
 Component: IMAP resource
AssignedTo: er...@kde.org
ReportedBy: gre...@gmail.com
CC: vkra...@kde.org, kdepim-bugs@kde.org

Version: 1.4.80 (using KDE 4.5.85)
OS:Linux

I am trying IDLE (IMAP email push) and it does not seem to be working. If I
send a message from one email account (not monitored by kmail) to another,
kmail/akonadi will only display this message after it syncs folders. My
co-worker uses another mail client with the same server and IDLE works for him.

Akonadi configuration shows no errors and I have tried this many times with the
same results. Please suggest anything I can try to help resolve the issue.

Reproducible: Always

Yes it's right undo/redo was not reimplemented in kmail2
I will necessary to reimplement it.
(Perhaps add undo/redo directly in akonadi)

I can confirm this bug. Remembering the preferred key for a recipient does not
work at all. I am always forced to choose a key because of the failed lookup.

I am using kmail 1.13.5 (KDE 4.4.5) from Debian's testing distribution.

I've seen this to as has others on IRC and we have seen it in other programs
then KMail so it's not a kmail bug.

However if it's a bug in qt, kdelibs or in the themes we were unable to
determine.

Uhm... probably you don't have a session dbus running
(you can try starting it with dbus-daemon --fork --session )
but no clue if that is required for akonadi.

Anyways, did restarting akonadi unfreeze your kmail? it works for me
repetitively :-)

--- Comment #1 from Tobias Koenig tokoe kde org 2010-12-09 12:14:43 ---
Hej Sascha,

from a technical point of view, the kolab groupware objects are just normal
emails, so the behavior 'jump to next unread email' is absolutly correct.
I'm not sure if it is worth to investigate the content of the unread emails
(because this means we have to download the complete body of the mail) just to
ignore it. But that's something the customer has to decide.

Ciao,
Tobias

They are in hidden collections. So they should be ignored (statement from
Volker and Till). - bug.

[Bug 259355] New: kmail terminates during startup with Failed to fetch the resource collection.

2010-12-09 Thread Stefan Majewsky
https://bugs.kde.org/show_bug.cgi?id=259355

Summary: kmail terminates during startup with Failed to fetch
the resource collection.
   Product: kmail2
   Version: unspecified
  Platform: openSUSE RPMs
OS/Version: Linux
Status: NEW
  Severity: normal
  Priority: NOR
 Component: general
AssignedTo: kdepim-bugs@kde.org
ReportedBy: majew...@gmx.net

Version: unspecified (using KDE 4.5.85)
OS:Linux

Launching KMail, the main window and the contents of my mailbox appear, though
no new mail is downloaded (I have 2 POP3 accounts). Then a message box appears
that says KMail encountered a fatal error and will terminate now. The error
was: Failed to fetch the resource collection. No further interaction is
possible because the message box is modal.

This problem occurs on 4.6 Beta 2. On Beta 1, I got bug #246027 instead.

Reproducible: Always

--- Comment #4 from mps moabi2000 gmail com 2010-12-09 19:43:36 ---
Hi Tobias,

Thanks for the clarification and advice - I shall have to go back to 4.5, which
is a pity.

I must say that given the current state of kmail 2 (just look at the severity
of the 200 or so open bugs - apart from the huge cpu use problem, there is data
loss, missing core functionality, emails getting sent multiple times, you name
it) I think this is extremely unfortunate. Releasing 4.6 with the only kdepim
option being 4.6 in this state is going to get KDE *WAY* more flak than the 4.0
release ever did.

I know there are a few more weeks of fixing to go before the release, so maybe
I am too pessimistic, but something to consider I think.

Bon courage!
M.

Thanks Tobias. It appears that kubuntu is packaging the wrong .desktop files.
I moved my serializer directory to serializer.BAK, then using aptitude
reinstalled the kdepim-runtime package. However it appears that the same files
were installed:

/usr/share/kde4/apps/akonadi/plugins$ md5sum serializer/*
63e5b2a5a53f1e0baed268a839652507
serializer/akonadi_serializer_addressee.desktop
eb5f290b164cd22c63f5f1b6c601500d
serializer/akonadi_serializer_bookmark.desktop
ecb6c8a3591ea052cc4b81fa81eb8d65
serializer/akonadi_serializer_contactgroup.desktop
59ddbc2c3829d3a29293f56f337f6a0e serializer/akonadi_serializer_kcal.desktop
8d00691f54484eb5571f3b7aa6c67935 serializer/akonadi_serializer_mail.desktop
89ab551dd1a407834f4d5de8fa352035
serializer/akonadi_serializer_microblog.desktop

/usr/share/kde4/apps/akonadi/plugins$ md5sum serializer.BAK/*
63e5b2a5a53f1e0baed268a839652507
serializer.BAK/akonadi_serializer_addressee.desktop
eb5f290b164cd22c63f5f1b6c601500d
serializer.BAK/akonadi_serializer_bookmark.desktop
ecb6c8a3591ea052cc4b81fa81eb8d65
serializer.BAK/akonadi_serializer_contactgroup.desktop
59ddbc2c3829d3a29293f56f337f6a0e
serializer.BAK/akonadi_serializer_kcal.desktop
8d00691f54484eb5571f3b7aa6c67935
serializer.BAK/akonadi_serializer_mail.desktop
89ab551dd1a407834f4d5de8fa352035
serializer.BAK/akonadi_serializer_microblog.desktop

So if you are a kubuntu user, and are running into this problem you can do
this:

1. Backup /usr/share/kde4/apps/akonadi/plugins/serializer/
2. Go to http://websvn.kde.org/trunk/KDE/kdepim/runtime/plugins/
3. Download all the .desktop files
4. Copy them into /usr/share/kde4/apps/akonadi/plugins/serializer/

Now everything should be good. (At least it was for me.)

Same thing happens here, with beta2 (KDE 4.5.85) on Kubuntu. However
it seems to depend on the imap server. The one failing seems to be
coming from the uw-imapd package (7:2007b~dfsg-4+lenny3). However
a different imap server (1:1.0.10-1ubuntu5.2 on ubuntu) works fine as
does gmail.

Tobias: I'm surprised by your reply; this -is- the recommended combination
currently, for kmail etc. to work.
Things might be different when it comes to kaddressbook, but then users have no
good solution right now...

I'm starting to wonder if we should release a kdepim (called 4.5 maybe?) with
kdepim-4.4.x and kaddressbook-4.6 :-)

Summary: The default reply and forward templates are empty
   Product: kmail2

  Platform: Archlinux Packages
OS/Version: Linux
Status: UNCONFIRMED
  Severity: normal

 Component: composer
AssignedTo: kdepim-bugs@kde.org

By default, when I hit 'reply' or 'forward' the composer's window is empty.
The templates contain only '%BLANK'. When I modify it, I get better
results, but those are certainly not healthy defaults!

[Bug 259392] New: Could not send messages when automatic encoding is selected

2010-12-09 Thread Jakub Schmidtke
https://bugs.kde.org/show_bug.cgi?id=259392

Summary: Could not send messages when automatic encoding is
selected
   Product: kmail2
   Version: 2.0.89
  Platform: Unlisted Binaries
OS/Version: Linux
Status: UNCONFIRMED
  Severity: normal
  Priority: NOR
 Component: composer
AssignedTo: kdepim-bugs@kde.org
ReportedBy: sja...@gmail.com

Version: 2.0.89
OS:Linux

When I compose a new message and try to send it, I get following error twice:
Could not compose message: No charsets were available for encoding. Please
report this bug.. When I click OK it appears again, and after next 'OK' it's
gone. But the message is not sent.
I added several encodings to the list of supported charsets in kmail's
configuration, but it didn't help.
What helped was changing the encoding from 'default' to anything else.
But I can't find a way to set it permanently to something else, so I have to do
this every time I compose a new email.

Reproducible: Always

Steps to Reproduce:
Create a new message, try to send it.

In my case there is no systray unread message count at all, and unread message
counts in the folderview don't decrease at all. Not sometimes, it happens every
time. I have to quit kmail and start it again to get rid of unread message
numbers from folder names.
I use IMAP accounts.

I have no clue what is going on here... I tried dbus-daemon --fork --session

got the same thing as above.

No, restarting akonadi does not unfreeze kmail

[Bug 257856] Magic Next Button jumps to unread Kolab groupware objects

2010-12-09 Thread Volker Krause
https://bugs.kde.org/show_bug.cgi?id=257856

--- Comment #3 from Volker Krause vkrause kde org 2010-12-10 08:56:52 ---
There are two possible scenarios here:
- The Kolab folder is detected correctly and thus not visible in KMail. The
next button should of course not jump into such a folder.
- The Kolab folder is not detected correctly (eg. due to broken annotations on
the server). In this case the problem is elsewhere (eg. loss of annotations),
we cannot detect such folders as Kolab folders as Tobias noted correctly.
