[kmail2] [Bug 376156] Deleting messages in IMAP account with server side folders enabled isn't possible

Reposting my comment in this bug ...

I wasn't affected by this bug in previous KMail versions (applications 4.14.1
and lower) but now in 16.04.3 (Kontact 5.2.3) it's here and it's extremely
annoying.

- only one account out of three is problematic
- mail in Inbox cannot be moved or trashed, but copy works
- mail in other folders behaves normally, everything works
- restarting akonadi doesn't help
- restarting KMail doesn't help
- creating the account from scratch helps for a while, but then it stops
working again

In summary, KMail2 is unusable for that account no matter what I do, the same
account worked great in applications 4.14.1 and lower.

Best Regards,
Andrej

[kdepimlibs] [Bug 377946] New: Findings from a code review

2017-03-22 Thread Steve
https://bugs.kde.org/show_bug.cgi?id=377946

Bug ID: 377946
Summary: Findings from a code review
   Product: kdepimlibs
   Version: unspecified
  Platform: Other
OS: Linux
Status: UNCONFIRMED
  Severity: normal
  Priority: NOR
 Component: general
  Assignee: kdepim-bugs@kde.org
  Reporter: sgr...@redhat.com
  Target Milestone: ---

Missing break/return:
kdepimlibs-4.14.10/akonadi/calendar/calendarmodel.cpp:115: unterminated_case:
The case for value "Qt::DisplayRole" is not terminated by a 'break' statement.
kdepimlibs-4.14.10/akonadi/calendar/calendarmodel.cpp:153: fallthrough: The
above case falls through to this one.

Confused code:
kdepimlibs-4.14.10/akonadi/entitylistview.cpp:193: cond_const: Condition
"menuCanceled", taking false branch. Now the value of "menuCanceled" is equal
to 0.
kdepimlibs-4.14.10/akonadi/entitylistview.cpp:195: const: At condition
"menuCanceled", the value of "menuCanceled" must be equal to 0.
kdepimlibs-4.14.10/akonadi/entitylistview.cpp:195: dead_error_condition: The
condition "menuCanceled" cannot be true.
kdepimlibs-4.14.10/akonadi/entitylistview.cpp:196: dead_error_line: Execution
cannot reach this statement: "return;".

Object Passed by Value instead of Reference:
kdepimlibs-4.14.10/kcal/icalformat_p.cpp:2548: pass_by_value: Passing parameter
r of type "icalrecurrencetype" (size 2904 bytes) by value.

Unterminated string possible:
kdepimlibs-4.14.10/kcalcore/versit/vobject.c:1238: buffer_size_warning: strncpy
does not terminate strings if they are equal to or larger than the size passed,
To be safe it needs to be manually terminated: buf1[255] = 0;

The filters won't work as the emails come into the Inbox. Wait until the
download of emails has finished then you click ont he Inbos foler to highlight
it and then select "Apply All Filters on Folder" from the Folder menu (or add
this option to the tool bar)

I didn't get duplicates on all emails either but i don't get any duplicates at
all now because of the way i do it as described.
Its just temporary until the devs fix filtering, there are a few more problems
with filtering other than duplication of emails.

Sometimes when I click on an email, instead of showing it in the pane below the
list, the mail gets deleted. Permanently. Without moving it to the trash. I
confirmed this by using a web mail interface to the imap server and see that
mail is gone forever.

Dovecot? No, not as far as I know. I'm getting this message from the servers of
the german telekom, the webinterface is email.t-online.de .

Hello - if I do that my filters won't work (will they)? Do you want me to try a
test?

In my case I only get duplicates when moving messages into some subfolders and
not others. I also only get duplicates on some messages. I can send a screen
shot of this. Interestingly the two duplicate/filtered messages come through
with different file sizes. eg the first is 5.1KB and the second is 8.7KB. But
they are the same message duplicated with the same time stamp. (not sent twice
accidentally)

Same problem here. Updated on OpenSUSE Tumbleweed. The Kmail/ Akonadi combo is
very much a "hit and miss" at the moment. Sometimes I can read quite some
emails in a row, sometimes I get the "Retrieving Folder Content" message for
hours on end. In the past restarting akonadi seemed to help, but no longer.

Akonadi is at 5.4.3.

I'll be happy to provide any logs, info whatever that could help in fixing
this.

In the calendar summary, the events are ordered in a very weird way.

They are 1st sorted by day, in what is expected, but within a day, the later
events are shown first.

Please just adopt normal sorting from 1st to last without grouping.

Thanks.
