[Akonadi] [Bug 362699] Back end MySQL table PimItemTable shows entries with remoteID = NULL
https://bugs.kde.org/show_bug.cgi?id=362699 --- Comment #3 from Christoph Pospiech--- In an earlier command it was written that "It means that the item has been created in Akonadi and is waiting for the owning resource to store it in the remote storage". I just observed something that potentially points to a different direction. I had a couple of NULL entries today, not related to the trash scenario as described in my previous comment. Apparently, these entries were pointing to an non-existent entry in ~/.local/share/akonadi/file_db_data. But they also had a foreign key pointing to a collection. For one of those collections there happened to be only one mail that I touched/moved into this collection. I checked in Kmail - and the mail was still there. Means - there is another entry in the PimItemtable for this mail, and the entry with remoteID = NULL appears to be really obsolete - a stale duplicate so to speak. My other (more general) observation is that these entries don't go away, even if the connection to the IMAP servers is re-established. I did similar checks for the other mails. - And then decided to eliminate the stale entries via "DELETE FROM `pimitemtable` WHERE `remoteId` IS NULL;" - knowing that there are delete cascades into the other tables. Would that be the general solution ? [kmail2] [Bug 316107] big regression: kmail IMAP connection and message display problems
https://bugs.kde.org/show_bug.cgi?id=316107 --- Comment #32 from Sudhir Khanger--- Hi Martin, I will have to wait 2 more months to get the upstream supported KDEPIM+Akonadi (15.12+) version. I will report back if I have any issues with them. I am curious if you could shed some light on it. Zoho tells me KMail is making more than 20 simultaneous connections to their server. I am watching the imap traffic using the command you provided `watch -n1 "netstat -tanp | grep imap`. I only see the following 4 lines. That's the maximum I have seen tcp0 0 192.168.1.33:45940 155.97.137.30:993 ESTABLISHED 2117/akonadi_imap_r tcp0 0 192.168.1.33:38574 165.254.168.191:993 ESTABLISHED 2114/akonadi_imap_r tcp0 0 192.168.1.33:44000 155.97.137.30:993 ESTABLISHED 2117/akonadi_imap_r tcp0 69 192.168.1.33:40884 165.254.168.191:993 ESTABLISHED 2114/akonadi_imap_r Looking up these IP addresses I see two of these are from a working email server. No problem there. The rest two are connecting to Zoho servers. I don't see 20 entries. https://bugs.kde.org/show_bug.cgi?id=335795 Cristiano Guadagninochanged: What|Removed |Added CC||crigu...@gmail.com --- Comment #6 from Cristiano Guadagnino --- Hi, I don't know if it is correct to add discussion to such an old thread, but I have found nothing else regarding the problem I am having. Laos I think my input may change your mind regarding the usefulness of having an "imap path prefix" configuration option. The point is that if you want to access any recent Exchange server from Linux you are very limited in options: either your administrators allow IMAP access to your mailbox (which most Exchange administrators won't allow) or you use DavMail. DavMail is a very good option and can be used with just about any MUA. BUT the situation changes greatly if you want to access a shared mailbox (which is a very common feature in enterprise accounts). This is a very common need, based on the number of requests one can find on the DavMail support forums. Since both the server and the login/password is the same as your primary mailbox, there's no other way to access a shared mailbox than changing the IMAP path prefix. This can easily be done with e.g. Thunderbird, but if one prefers KMail there's absolutely NO WAY to get this done. I am using KMail 5.1.3.
