[kmail2] [Bug 377521] regression: system tray icon no longer shows number of new mails

Please, would you reconsider your decision ? I have just upgraded my fedora 23
into a fedora 25, and had the bad surprise to see that the number of unread
emails was gone in the system tray icon.

Having this number of emails displayed was a useful feature. I thought it was a
configuration bug and I spent a long time trying to re-enable it, and then I
have seen this bug. (I thought of a configuration bug because the icon when
there are no unread mail is the simple breeze envelope outline, while the icon
when there are unread mails is a solid white envelope with shading and a yellow
star. I understand the yellow star, but why does the envelope changes ?)

People choose kde over gnome for its flexibility and configurability. Your
users are not afraid of an extra config option!

Thanks anyway for all the work.

[kmail2] [Bug 379436] New: I did some operations with kmail and the date / message uid was changed

2017-05-02 Thread Olivier Churlaud
https://bugs.kde.org/show_bug.cgi?id=379436

Bug ID: 379436
Summary: I did some operations with kmail and the date /
message uid was changed
   Product: kmail2
   Version: 5.4.3
  Platform: Other
OS: Linux
Status: UNCONFIRMED
  Severity: normal
  Priority: NOR
 Component: general
  Assignee: kdepim-bugs@kde.org
  Reporter: oliv...@churlaud.com
  Target Milestone: ---

#I did some operations with kmail and the date / message uid was changed

I was configuring bogofilter, so the action I did was (through a filter):

1) Add a header to the email (X-Bogosity)
2) Change the state of the email (Spam, Normal)

When I did that on all my messages, I realized that the message uid (what
Thunderbird writes as Order Received) has changed and doesn't represent the
reception order anymore.

As a result, when I synchronize my emails on a phone, for instance, they don't
come in the right order: to read my last emails, I need to download everything.

Also, it appears that a date has been changed as a result on the servers,
because one implementation shows me a date which is the one I made the header
update instead of the reception date.

Is it a bug in Kmail ? A wrong-doing of mine? Is there a way so that I come
back to the previous state?

Thank you

A solution could be th exclude collections that have the 'noselect' attribute.

Git commit 6934738a92c8b52a54522474692b98abb9d23736 by Daniel Vrátil.
Committed on 02/05/2017 at 09:55.
Pushed by dvratil into branch 'master'.

StorageJanitor: skip search index check of Collections without mimetype

Without mimetype we don't know which search store to look into,
but it also means that the Indexing Agent should not be able to
index it, so there should be no invalid indexed items.

To the KDE.

Can you do gnu/linux users a favor and remove kmail from the existence of
internet so this garbage never again reaches any distro so users can actually
settle on software that works? Thank you.

I can confirm this is present in Debian Unstable - I deleted all future dated
entries yesterday and this morning I have 11 dated 07/02/2106 06:28 - these had
already been downloaded and read from the Planet Debian feed - Kontact 5.2.3,
Plasma 5.8.6.

Coincidentally the last such entry is entitled "Silent Data Corruption Is Real"
