Mails, contacts and even the calendar, integrated via Nextcloud, works flawlessly. Unfortunately I have the same issue with Journal. Today I received a notification that this message had been waiting for information for 15 days! Odd that I receive the nag but not the original question. The good news is that this situation has resolved itself with no input from me. I can only assume an update to some component or other has provided the solution? IN any case, KMail now operates as expected and this bug, I guess, can be marked as "resolved" or do we mark it as fixed but no resolution somehow? My knowledge level would have made answering your question tricky but, as you suggested, I would have asked in Kubuntu forums and done my best to get the correct information. If you would still like me to do this then please say so and I will endeavour to provide the info. For the moment though, all is well with Kontact and Kmail on my machine.
