I tried setting and exporting the indicated variables in a terminal, then run
kmail in the terminal. That didn't seem to solve the problem. Suggestions?

We can merge both bugs, as the source of this is actually that KMailTransport
is half ported to QKeychain half is still directly using KWallet.

KMailTransport (the library that is actually storing the password) is using
KWallet directly to store passwords, but using QKeyChain to read the passwords.
For a clean KDE environment QKeychain will use KWallet, but for other
environments it is using an different backend. That's why only people are
affected that are not running a Plasma desktop. You can treat QtKeyChain by
environemt variables as workaround: KDE_SESSION_VERSION=5 and
XDG_CURRENT_DESKTOP=kde
or look at the decision path:
https://github.com/frankosterfeld/qtkeychain/blob/master/keychain_unix.cpp#L100

It is a while that I am not using intensively Leap any more, now on TW. For
what I can see on one of the few of the Leap machines I have still running, in
15.4, as far as I can see, the issue appear to be fixed.
Feel free to reopen if applicable.

[Akonadi] [Bug 410179] PIM events in Plasma calendar causes OOM killer

2022-09-26 Thread Martin Ottmar
https://bugs.kde.org/show_bug.cgi?id=410179

Oh, I'm sorry. I've tried to enable the digital clock PIM plugin few weeks ago,
and it didn't crash. PIM started immediately, with working kalendar and
containing valid PIM informations. There is not any CPU or (noticeable) memory
impact on plasmashell. There is nice new feature like dots as events by each
day. At least dots by the first visible day (of each month page) have invalid
color, but damn it! Digital clock caPIM events work again within daily using!
But I don't know, when it was fixed. The last unsuccessful try before, it was
probably last year.
I think, this ticket should be closed.
