Unfortunately (or fortunately?) I never had the issue again since removing the
autosave file.

2017-10-31 Thread Ferry

OK I managed to work around this in the following way:
- I went into ~ferry/.local/share/kmail2/autosave
- removed the file there

Started kmail, problem gone.

May I suggest that if kmail is repeatedly trying to recover an open e-mail that
it should give up on that and clear the autosave folder?

Unfortunately I really deleted the file, so we can't use it here now to
reproduce the problem.

I just upgraded to kubuntu backport ppa:
~$ kmail -v
kmail2 5.5.3

Still kontact (and kmail) crash on each start. I think it tries to recover an
e-mail and then crashes again and again. How do I stop this?

Starting from command line now shows:

Same problem here. After update to Kubuntu 15.10 (Kontact 5.02) at a certain
point my address book cache got cleared and shows 0 contacts (out of > 1200).

Re-adding the resource shows I can retrieve my collections (1 local, 1 shared),
but still when syncing it stalls at about 30%, then after a long wait
completes, but shows 0 contacts. Tried putting the resource offline/online,
restarting it etc.

Not sure if this might be caused by some kind of time out due to the large
amount of contacts.

I can probably provide a similar debugger log using the akonadi console, let me
know if/how I can help.

We have an imap server that we use to store ALL our e-mail on our local server.
I mean 1000's of e-mail and 20GB or so of storage.

Now, when I'm on the road or working from home I don't want to sync the whole
archive to my local machine. So, I go to the properties of the imap folder,
select the retrieve tab, then select 'download the contents of messages at
request' and then 'keep local for 5 minutes'.

After 5 minutes Kontact starts clearing my local cache. However, whenever I
start my computer again and start Kontact, these settings have returned to
default and Kontact starts downloading the whole archive again.

This is driving me nuts.

There is also an option 'use options from the above folder', but since there is
no folder above the imap folder level, I don't know how to change those
settings (to turn the default to just downloading the headers).

Reproducible: Always

Hello Daniel,

I have 3 machines, 2 show this problem, all 3 have the same KDE version.
COnfiguration should be the same on all 3, but somewere there must be a
difference.

Logged as you specified above. I have 4 account, discarded the logs from the
accounts that work Remains 3 log file for the one problematic account. The 3rd
shows the problem I think.

I replied a message to myself, so the message is sent, then posted to the
inbox, this is lost. Then the sent message is received in the inbox. I remove
the actual receiving from the log.

Will post 3 log now.

Actually I think I remember this account sometimes had problems with Evolution
too. The posting for the inbox was sometimes denied, but worked on a second
try. Evolution however didn't delete the 'sent' message, but detected that
moving to inbox failed and falls back to the local sent messages folder.

I have keep replies in this folder (inbox) checked. Also the accounts sent mail
is set to inbox.

Now I loose messages when:
I reply (reply lost)
Send a new mail (sent message should be in inbox but disappeared)
Move mail from another imap server to this one

The problem seems to depend on the imap server as well (happens with my
providers server - telfort.nl). At our company we run dovecot, and that has no
problem.

Note: the problem did not happen with KDE 4.10
Note: I am currently using KDE 4.11.2 from the Kubuntu PPA

The search folder dialog allows only 1 folder or all folders to be seached.

I request to be able to have 2 or more folder to be searched.

The usecase is: with multiple inboxes or an additional archive box the search
result or virtual folder would show a merged list of e-mails. Then a second
search could be performed on the merged list as normal, f.i. to show all
corresponance from a single contact.

BTW this is one of the features in Evolution that works well and which I miss
since moving to Kontact

I think not.

I am on Quantal which has libqt4-* 4.8.3. Also I experienced the same problem
on raring which has 4.8.4. The article you reference recommends to stay at or
downgrade to 4.8.4.

Don't forget before updating to kde 4.11 I had 4.10 which worked fine.

I left the status resolved upstream, but can you confirm this is really the
case (i.e. did you check)?

When using the postgresql backend (either internal or external) Akonadi Console
records NO Unable to add item flags. and stops updating the list of
messages. This is regardless of setting the standard_conforming_strings = on
option. Other usefull messages:
* 52228 FETCH (UID 52228 REV 2 REMOTEID 1 MIMETYPE message/rfc822

3612 NO Unable to add item flags.
3614 ROLLBACK
3614 OK Rollback completed

Note this occurs after updating to 4.11, before the update I had the postgresql
backend working fine (and better then the mysql backend.

Dropping the akonadi database in my external sql server and rebuilding new did
not solve the problem.

Only switching back to mysql get my e-mail functioning for now.

Reproducible: Always

Steps to Reproduce:
1.In Akonadi server configuration switch to postgresql backend (internal) -
make sure the backend is installed first.
2.In Akonadi Console enable the debugger
