[kmail2] [Bug 361834] Incorrect calculation of repaint region when message display pane is close to requiring scroll bars?
https://bugs.kde.org/show_bug.cgi?id=361834 Kjetil Kilhavn changed: What|Removed |Added Status|NEEDSINFO |RESOLVED Resolution|WAITINGFORINFO |WORKSFORME --- Comment #9 from Kjetil Kilhavn --- Sorry about the late response. I have tried to recreate the problem, but have not been able to do so - so the problem was probably solved a long time ago. I currently use openSUSE Leap 15.4 and Plasma 5.24.4 with KMail version 5.19.3. Thank you for your continuous improvement of my favourite software and desktop environment. Shortly after I reported the bug I started using Ubuntu and used that the next four or so years as Dell was the only computer available in Norway with a Linux-based operating system preinstalled and supported. I really enjoyed that laptop (XPS 13 developer edition) - I wish something similar becomes available with KDE, because I believe in voting with my wallet and supporting companies that offer a supported Linux installation. Unfortunately, today we are back to the normal situation in Norway; you can only buy a computer without Windows or MacOS if you settle for FreeDOS. -- You are receiving this mail because: You are the assignee for the bug.

[kmail2] [Bug 361834] New: Incorrect calculation of repaint region when message display pane is close to requiring scroll bars?
https://bugs.kde.org/show_bug.cgi?id=361834 Bug ID: 361834 Summary: Incorrect calculation of repaint region when message display pane is close to requiring scroll bars? Product: kmail2 Version: 5.1.3 Platform: openSUSE RPMs OS: Linux Status: UNCONFIRMED Severity: normal Priority: NOR Component: UI Assignee: kdepim-bugs@kde.org Reporter: kje...@kilhavn.no An email message that in its HTML form contains a background image which is an external resource leads to a display anomaly when loading external resources. The problem occurs only for specific window sizes, so I suspect it is related to calculation of the region that must be repainted. I accidentally discovered that if I turn on display of message structure (displayed below message pane) the problem does not occur! So I experimented a little more with the message opened in a separate window and discovered that the problem did not occur then either. However; it turns out that it depends on the window size - so when changed the size of the separate message window to match the message area size in KMail the problem occurred again. It did not occur for a smaller window, nor for a larger window. I suspect that with a larger screen I would be able to reproduce the problem also with the message structure displayed. Reproducible: Always Steps to Reproduce: If required, change KMail settings to display plain text email by default and display HTML status bar in message window before attempting to reproduce the problem. 1. Load attached message into KMail 2. Switch to HTML version 3. Load external resources Actual Results: The right edge of the window (where the scroll bar was before loading external resources) is not repainted correctly. It shows the mail header and parts of the background - from the size distortion it seems there is an initial rendering run, and the scroll bar area shows the result of this rendering. Expected Results: The message should have displayed without a strange artefact in the scrollbar area. I am setting the severity to Normal instead of Minor because I hope there can also be some performance gained from fixing this bug - assuming a fix leads to a 50% reduction in rendering runs (from 2 to 1). -- You are receiving this mail because: You are the assignee for the bug. ___ Kdepim-bugs mailing list Kdepim-bugs@kde.org https://mail.kde.org/mailman/listinfo/kdepim-bugs

[Bug 308952] New: Messages disappear after folder rename
https://bugs.kde.org/show_bug.cgi?id=308952 Bug ID: 308952 Severity: critical Version: 4.8.5 Priority: NOR Assignee: kdepim-bugs@kde.org Summary: Messages disappear after folder rename Classification: Unclassified OS: Linux Reporter: kje...@kilhavn.no Hardware: openSUSE RPMs Status: UNCONFIRMED Component: folders Product: kmail2 This bug seems related to 308378 - https://bugs.kde.org/show_bug.cgi?id=308378 - but I do not get any messages about the folder not existing. Therefore I decided to post it as a new report. I was also unsure whether it should be reported as a Akonadi or KMail2 problem, feel free to reassign :-) In a (local) folder I had three messages. I renamed the folder (from Vivaldi to Plasma Active, not that it should matter) and moved three more messages to the folder. In the message list, all messages were displayed, but only the new messages would be displayed when selected. I suspected the problem was related to the renaming of the folder. Now, in slight desperation, I tried several tricks, so my memory is perhaps not complete. As a software developer I should be sensible enough to write down the steps once I suspected it was a bug - but unfortunately I was not. Now, as I am writing this, I have two folders. One named Plasma Active and one named Vivaldi. I believe the Vivaldi is the original folder re-named again in the hope that the messages would magically reappear, and the Plasma Active is a new folder I created (sibling of Vivaldi). However, memory may serve me wrong, and I may also have renamed the folder more than twice. Anyway, the end result was that none of the folders displayed any messages! However, in disk folder ~/.local/share/.local-mail.directory/.KDE.directory/Vivaldi/new the original three messages are present - so the mail has not been lost. The three new messages I had moved to the folder after renaming it mysteriously disappeared, but were found again in the inbox and sent mail folders - who said computers are not intelligent! I tried to move one of those messages to the Plasma Active folder. The message now appears in both the Plasma Active folder and the Vivaldi folder in KMail, but on disk it is found in the ~/.local/share/.local-mail.directory/.KDE.directory/Plasma Active/new folder. I closed KMail (Kontact) and re-opened it. That did not solve or create any problems, i.e. the Plasma Active and Vivaldi folders still show the message I moved to the Plasma Active folder - and the folders on disk still have the correct messages as described above. Reproducible: Always Steps to Reproduce: 1. Create a local folder and move a message into it. 2. Rename the folder and move another message into it. 3. Click on the message you first moved into the folder to display it. Actual Results: Message is not displayed in message view area. Expected Results: Message is displayed in message view area. Although the data are not actually lost they appear to be lost, and only people who know where to look will find the messages. If KMail had been able to restore correct display after a restart the problem would not be as severe as it now (in my opinion) is. -- You are receiving this mail because: You are the assignee for the bug. ___ Kdepim-bugs mailing list Kdepim-bugs@kde.org https://mail.kde.org/mailman/listinfo/kdepim-bugs

https://bugs.kde.org/show_bug.cgi?id=299907 Bug ID: 299907 Severity: minor Version: unspecified Priority: NOR CC: kdepim-bugs@kde.org, vkra...@kde.org Assignee: to...@kde.org Summary: In a new openSUSE 12.1 installation which is immediately updated from the stable KDE SC 4.8 repositories there are two Contacts collections/resources and two Calendar collections/resources Classification: Unclassified OS: Linux Reporter: kje...@kilhavn.no Hardware: openSUSE RPMs Status: UNCONFIRMED Component: Contacts resource Product: Akonadi I have just installed openSUSE 12.1. After installation I added the Core and Extra repositories for KDE SC 4.8 (upstream release). Reproducible: Didn't try Steps to Reproduce: I expect it to be reproducible, but I haven't tried it yet. 1. Install openSUSE 12.1 - selecting KDE as desktop (language Norwegian bokmål, but I don't expect that to be of significance). 2. After installation: Add the two repositories http://download.opensuse.org/repositories/KDE:/Release:/48/openSUSE_12.1/ and http://download.opensuse.org/repositories/KDE:/Extra/KDE_Release_48_openSUSE_12.1/ and define SUSE,openSUSE and obs://build.opensuse.org/KDE as equivalent vendors (/etc/zypp/vendors.d/openSUSE-KDE.conf) 3. Update installed packages 4. Check the predefined Akonadi resources. Actual Results: There are two resources for contacts and two calendar resources. Expected Results: One resource for contacts and one calendar resource. I tried to clean up my system manually and removed the additional files from $HOME/.kde4/share/config/ (akonadi_contacts_resource_1rc and akonadi_ical_resource_1rc) and $HOME/.config/akonadi (agent_config_akonadi_contacts_resource_1 and agent_config_akonadi_contacts_resource_1_changes.dat and agent_config_akonadi_ical_resource_1 and agent_config_akonadi_ical_resource_1_changes.dat) and edited $HOME/.config/akonadi/agentsrc That did not solve my problem. What it did was remove the resources which are displayed when looking at Akonadi resources (kcmshell4 kcm_akonadi), but the collections remain in the database. They are visible in akonadiconsole, but more importantly two collections are displayed when I chose an Akonadi resource as standard KDE resource for calendar or contacts. Update: While creating this bug report I tried to recreate the files I had deleted to see if the resources would show up again, hoping that it would let me remove the resources and that the collections would be removed along with them. I had to manually add the resource in the Akonadi resource overview, but after deleting this the collections are now gone. So, there is a workaround for the problem, but I am submitting this bug report anyway, as the duplicate entries should not have been created in the first place. -- You are receiving this mail because: You are on the CC list for the bug. ___ Kdepim-bugs mailing list Kdepim-bugs@kde.org https://mail.kde.org/mailman/listinfo/kdepim-bugs

https://bugs.kde.org/show_bug.cgi?id=295759 Kjetil Kilhavn kje...@kilhavn.no changed: What|Removed |Added CC||kje...@kilhavn.no --- Comment #3 from Kjetil Kilhavn kje...@kilhavn.no --- I can confirm that the dictionary change solved the problem for me as well (openSUSE 12.1, KDE 4.8.1 from openSUSE's KDE Release 4.8 repositories). I had the two dictionaries Norsk (bokmål) and Norsk (bokmål) (Norge), and selecting Norsk (bokmål) solved the problem. Looking the the System Settings, I see that for the default spell check it is Norsk (bokmål) which is selected, but Norsk (bokmål) (Norge) is available - as well as Engelsk (USA) which seems impossible to get rid off even if I install proper English (i.e. the British English). Could the error be caused by a migration which forgot to update KMail's identity settings? I think it would be an improvement if we could select System default as language in KMail's identities settings. That way, if my preferred language became available after installation I could switch the language in the system settings and KMail would be using the new dictionary as well. -- You are receiving this mail because: You are the assignee for the bug. ___ Kdepim-bugs mailing list Kdepim-bugs@kde.org https://mail.kde.org/mailman/listinfo/kdepim-bugs

Akonadi resources have been defined - seems some duplicates have been defined for applications which had previously been migrated (e.g. address book). Strigi is not working (message about Nepomuk indexer problem is received every time), so after a couple of reboots that didn't help the situation I have now disabled Strigi and Nepomuk, but there was no change in behaviour. - What I was doing when the application crashed: I start KMail. KMail proceeds to download e-mail and informs me that message number such and such is filtered. Dialog boxes for conflicting updates (updated by SpamAssassin on server and local SpamAssassin) are responded to. As the filtering appears to have finished, the application crashes. There is no debuginfo package (on the right version number) available for installation, so unfortunately I can't provide a proper backtrack. - Custom settings of the application: My e-mail accounts are all POP accounts and I have five accounts defined, a couple of which are only downloading and not deleting any e-mail on the server. Other than that, nothing that's obscure as far as I know. The crash can be reproduced every time. -- Backtrace: Application: KMail (kmail), signal: Segmentation fault [Current thread is 1 (Thread 0x7fa42c846760 (LWP 1728))] Thread 2 (Thread 0x7fa40fa55700 (LWP 1732)): #0 0x7fa427a6f38c in pthread_cond_wait@@GLIBC_2.3.2 () from /lib64/libpthread.so.0 #1 0x7fa41e0ea1d4 in WTF::TCMalloc_PageHeap::runScavengerThread(void*) () from /usr/lib64/libQtWebKit.so.4 #2 0x7fa427a6aa3f in start_thread () from /lib64/libpthread.so.0 #3 0x7fa429c1467d in clone () from /lib64/libc.so.6 #4 0x in ??
