https://bugs.kde.org/show_bug.cgi?id=446751 --- Comment #17 from Olivier BELLEUX --- Hello, I'm using opensuse leap 15.3 with kde community repositories; unfortunately the openbuildservice had some problems to rebuild kde gear 21.12: it just finished after three days of hard works. I did the update + logout + login and launch kontact ; I retrieved my mails ; everything went well so for me the bug is solved Thanks to all the kdepim team for the patch. [Akonadi] [Bug 418464] New: Alternative to kwallet for akonadi passwords storing
https://bugs.kde.org/show_bug.cgi?id=418464 Bug ID: 418464 Summary: Alternative to kwallet for akonadi passwords storing Product: Akonadi Version: unspecified Platform: Other OS: Linux Status: REPORTED Severity: normal Priority: NOR Component: general Assignee: kdepim-bugs@kde.org Reporter: o.g.m.bell...@gmail.com Target Milestone: --- 926/5000 Hello,Akonadi currently uses Kwallet as a mandatory password manager; Kwallet is good software but its functionalities seem to no longer follow the state of the art in this area: -It is not possible to use it with firefox to store passwords (lockwise…) -the same for chromium and its clones, -you cannot use a yubikeys / nitrokeys to unlock the database -the secretservice protocol is not supported I plan to use KeepassXC for my browser and to protect the database with a nitrokeys but if I am forced to use kwallet because of akonadi/kontact, this may become a bit complicated. Could it be possible that in the near future akonadi will allow us to choose an alternative password manager based on more recent protocols and technologies implemented in our password requesting software? EXPECTED RESULT I would like, in a KCM, to be able to choose an alternative to kwallet (keepassXC…) and use it with the software of the kdepim suite (kmail, korganizer etc) and all the kde software which uses passwords in any way . Thanks to all the team for your wonderful work. -- You are receiving this mail because: You are the assignee for the bug.
[Akonadi] [Bug 398011] stopped getting gmail
https://bugs.kde.org/show_bug.cgi?id=398011 Olivier BELLEUX changed: What|Removed |Added Ever confirmed|0 |1 Status|UNCONFIRMED |CONFIRMED CC||o.g.m.bell...@gmail.com --- Comment #10 from Olivier BELLEUX --- Hello, I can receive emails from Gmail (pop3, ssl / tls 995) but not send (smtp ssl / tls 465) I tested several solutions (port etc ...) without success. This is unfortunately not the first time this year. If Akonadi can not be corrected for good then maybe the Kde-Pim team should stop trying to keep it alive: persisting is commendable, but persevering in this kind of mistake is stupid. I think I will finish with kontact and kde at the same time and go to take refuge at Gnome and thunderbird; I like kde but I'm not stupid to the point of depriving me of a feature as basic as sending mail ... -- You are receiving this mail because: You are on the CC list for the bug.
[Akonadi] [Bug 387926] Release version 17.12: Sending a mail with SMTP fails with: org.kde.pim.ksmtp: Socket error: 1
https://bugs.kde.org/show_bug.cgi?id=387926 Olivier BELLEUX <o.g.m.bell...@gmail.com> changed: What|Removed |Added CC||o.g.m.bell...@gmail.com --- Comment #35 from Olivier BELLEUX <o.g.m.bell...@gmail.com> --- I just updated my opensuse to kde applications 17.12 and kmail refuses to send mail from any of my accounts. Apparently Ksmtp is not ready yet. Akonadi is already quite annoying, it was not worth adding. Frankly Kde-Pim is the only part of the project that puts ko my tux; maybe it's time to go to Gnome? -- You are receiving this mail because: You are the assignee for the bug.
[Akonadi] [Bug 374734] Akonadiserver Crashes While Deleting Email
https://bugs.kde.org/show_bug.cgi?id=374734 --- Comment #36 from Olivier BELLEUX <o.g.m.bell...@gmail.com> --- I confirm that the update does not completely solve the bugs. I received two mail (html newsletters) that were filtered to the right folder but then read them caused a crash; Unable to delete them from kmail; I had to do it by hand since my maildir (my accounts are all in pop3: safer) then: Akonadi fsck Akonadi vacuum Akonadi restart Kontact Tired of this akonadi. Akonadi is an interface between the client and the server ... but when akonadi bugs it becomes a wall between the applications of the kontact suite and servers ... The idea was good but the implementation is far from conclusive: perhaps it is time to replace the too complex and fragile akonadi with a simpler solution such as a module kcm to centralize the management of accounts (kde -pim and telepathy) and stored these configurations in such a way that all software can access these resources directly. In addition kpart k-d-bus technologies would allow a client to access resources through another client. Of course this implies more code and work for each client but in the end it would probably be more KISS and therefore more robust. This does not prevent the use of databases to optimize clients, but several sqlite db may be more robust than a very large mysql db, may not ? Sorry for my comment a bit long but these multiple and recurring Akonadi dysfunction starts to disgust me from Kontact which is the killer apps for which I chose kde instead of gnome 7 years ago. If the situation does not evolve in the right direction then I should resolve to leave kde for gnome: it will be painful to me but if the stubbornness of the kde-pim team to keep alive akonadi persists then it will be bye bye. .. -- You are receiving this mail because: You are the assignee for the bug.
