But not only when kmail2 was running also when only akonadi was running. After a few days incoming emails bodies were displayed empty. A quick look at my webmail account showed that the e-mails were indeed empty (and I'm sure they had content when they were sent). After I've stopped akonadi incoming mails were unharmed again. Exiting kmail alone did not make a difference. So far this behavior only shows on one E-Mail account (provided by GMX). I'm unsure whether I can reproduce this. The risk of losing important information this way is just too big. Any suggestions how I can debug this without losing mails? But only because the functionality seems to be removed. I just created another addressbook and also activated in in kaddressbook. Then I've added one contact as described. The truncating happens also when kontact/kmail is closed but akonadi is still running. Only when I stop akonadi the truncating stops.
