[kmail2] [Bug 350219] Kmail can't create IMAP top level folders
https://bugs.kde.org/show_bug.cgi?id=350219 Tristan Millerchanged: What|Removed |Added CC||psychon...@nothingisreal.co ||m --- Comment #14 from Tristan Miller --- (In reply to Juha Tuomala from comment #13) > Confirmed. New manually created dovecot maildir folder doesn't appear > either, regardless what I try. I can't create top-level IMAP folders either (KMail 5.3.0). If I create the folder in another e-mail client, it doesn't appear immediately in KMail (even if in the "Manage Local Subscriptions" dialog). However, going offline via File->Work Offline and then back online again makes the new folders visible. -- You are receiving this mail because: You are the assignee for the bug.
[kmail2] [Bug 369724] New: "Next unread message" after "Delete" leaves two messages selected
https://bugs.kde.org/show_bug.cgi?id=369724 Bug ID: 369724 Summary: "Next unread message" after "Delete" leaves two messages selected Product: kmail2 Version: 5.3.0 Platform: Other OS: Linux Status: UNCONFIRMED Severity: normal Priority: NOR Component: message list Assignee: kdepim-bugs@kde.org Reporter: psychon...@nothingisreal.com Say I have a folder with three consecutive, unread messages, which I will call A, B, and C. If I select A, then delete it by pressing the Delete key, then KMail deletes A and automatically selects and displays the next message in the list, B. If I then type +, the keyboard shortcut to move to the next unread message, then KMail selects and displays C, but leaves B selected too. I think this behaviour is wrong. As soon as I advance to the next message with +, the previously selected message should be unselected. This problem is consistently reproducible, but only when using the keyboard shortcuts. If I use the "Move to Trash" command from the Edit menu, and the "Next Unread Message" command from the Go menu, then the problem does not occur. https://bugs.kde.org/show_bug.cgi?id=322676 Tristan Millerchanged: What|Removed |Added CC||psychon...@nothingisreal.co ||m --- Comment #7 from Tristan Miller --- How is anyone supposed to know whether they're suffering from this "KMail produces duplicate messages" bug or any of the others that have been reported here (e.g., Bug 293918, Bug 322126, Bug 323980, Bug 362398, Bug 360344, Bug 346695, Bug 323767, Bug 319591, Bug 316425, Bug 280154)? All these reports have similar symptoms, and while they sometimes occur in different scenarios (e.g., POP vs. IMAP vs. local mbox/maildir accounts), I doubt the reporters exhaustively checked all the scenarios. So I'd say yes, keep this bug open for now. I am getting duplicated mails in KMail 5.3.0. [kmail2] [Bug 369677] New: "Remove Duplicate Messages" gives throws blank error dialog
https://bugs.kde.org/show_bug.cgi?id=369677 Bug ID: 369677 Summary: "Remove Duplicate Messages" gives throws blank error dialog Product: kmail2 Version: 5.3.0 Platform: Other OS: Linux Status: UNCONFIRMED Severity: normal Priority: NOR Component: folders Assignee: kdepim-bugs@kde.org Reporter: psychon...@nothingisreal.com I'm suffering from one (I'm not sure which) of the many bugs in KMail2 that results in new messages getting duplicated en masse. To remove these, I use the "Remove Duplicate Messages" command from the "Folder" menu. While this command does seem to work, it has a number of undesirable side-effects. Here is what happens when I run the command: 1. A progress bar–like throbber appears in the status bar. 2. After several seconds (or minutes, for particularly large folders), a completely blank message dialog appears. It has a big red icon on it so I assume it's a serious error (though maybe it's just supposed to be telling me how many duplicates have been removed?). See attached screenshot. 3. After pressing OK on the error dialog, I am returned to the main KMail window. 4. Nothing happens for about five seconds. Then, the throbber finally stops and the duplicated messages disappear from the message list. Reproducible: Always -- You are receiving this mail because: You are the assignee for the bug.

I haven't tried with other kinds of folders. Possibly related: Bug 279436. Reproducible: Always Steps to Reproduce: 1. Select a folder that contains a single message. 2. Select the message. 3. There is a radio button group allowing the user to select among several predefined formats or a custom format. Selecting any of the predefined formats and pressing the "Apply" button results in the message list being immediately reformatted with the new date format. However, if the user selects a custom format, the "Apply" button has no immediate effect. Instead, the user must restart KMail for the changes to take effect. Please make the "Apply" button work correctly even if the user selects a custom date format. If this is not possible, then pressing "Apply" or "OK" should throw up a dialog window explaining that changes will take effect only after KMail is restarted. [kmail2] [Bug 368501] New: Data loss and filtering problems when running KMail2 remotely
https://bugs.kde.org/show_bug.cgi?id=368501 Bug ID: 368501 Summary: Data loss and filtering problems when running KMail2 remotely Product: kmail2 Version: 4.14.10 Platform: Other OS: Linux Status: UNCONFIRMED Severity: critical Priority: NOR Component: general Assignee: kdepim-bugs@kde.org Reporter: psychon...@nothingisreal.com I have KMail2 set to check mail from a local mbox in my /var/mail directory. I have filters set up in KMail2 that automatically sort this mail into various local folders. Everything works fine when running KMail2 locally. However, when I first start KMail2 over an x2go or ssh connection, it fails to filter the incoming mail in the mbox account. Basically, any mail that was already in the mbox account when I started KMail2 stays in the mbox account. (But while KMail2 is running, any mail that *subsequently* gets delivered into the mbox account does get correctly filtered.) If I select the mbox folder in KMail2 and try to manually move the new messages to a new folder, or try to manually apply the message filters, then sometimes this works and sometimes it doesn't. When it doesn't work, the message I tried to move/filter remains in the message list of the mbox folder. Sometimes I also get an error dialog that says "Invalid item retrieved". If I quit KMail2, then sometimes I get an error dialog that says "Unknown error". When I restart KMail2, sometimes the message appears in the folder I tried to move or filter it into, but sometimes it's completely gone -- it's neither in the original mbox folder nor in the folder that it should have been moved or filtered into. Reproducible: Always Steps to Reproduce: 1. Set up a local mbox account in KMail2, and some filters to process incoming messages in that account. 2. Quit Kmail2. 3. Have a bunch of messages delivered into the local mbox (via sendmail, fetchmail, etc.) 4. From a remote machine, use ssh or x2go to connect to the machine, and then run KMail2. Actual Results: 5. KMail2 shows the new messages in the mbox account, but doesn't filter them. 6. Attempting to manually move or filter the messages sometimes results in an "Invalid item retrieved" error dialog. If this happens, then when closing KMail2, I sometimes get an "Unknown error" error dialog, and when restarting KMail2, the message I tried to move or filter is completely gone. Expected Results: 5. KMail2 should filter the new messages in the mbox acount. -- You are receiving this mail because: You are the assignee for the bug.

[kmail2] [Bug 368046] New: Add an --identity command-line option for composing a new message
https://bugs.kde.org/show_bug.cgi?id=368046 Bug ID: 368046 Summary: Add an --identity command-line option for composing a new message Product: kmail2 Version: 4.14.10 Platform: Other OS: Linux Status: UNCONFIRMED Severity: wishlist Priority: NOR Component: general Assignee: kdepim-bugs@kde.org Reporter: psychon...@nothingisreal.com KMail2 allows users to invoke the composer from the command line and has command-line options for pre-filling many parts of the message (including the subject, recipients, attachments, and message body). This is great for batch message preparation. One thing that would be great to have is an --identity command-line option for specifying the identity to use for the message. This would take a single argument containing the name of the identity. Reproducible: Always -- You are receiving this mail because: You are the assignee for the bug.
[kmail2] [Bug 368045] New: Changing identity doesn't change signature when using --msg or --body
https://bugs.kde.org/show_bug.cgi?id=368045 Bug ID: 368045 Summary: Changing identity doesn't change signature when using --msg or --body Product: kmail2 Version: 4.14.10 Platform: Other OS: Linux Status: UNCONFIRMED Severity: normal Priority: NOR Component: composer Assignee: kdepim-bugs@kde.org Reporter: psychon...@nothingisreal.com In KMail2 I have several identities, each of which uses a different signature file. When I start composing a new message from within KMail2 (by using the "New Message", "Reply", or "Forward" commands), then I get a composer window that gets prefilled (possibly among other material) with the signature of the default identity. If I select a different identity from the "Identity" drop-down box, then the composer immediately replaces the signature in the message body with that of the newly selected identity. However, this feature doesn't work when I create a new message from the command line using the "--msg" or "--body" command-line options. In this case, selecting a new identity does not replace the signature. I believe this bug is a regression, as I don't recall it happening with KMail1. Reproducible: Always Steps to Reproduce: 1. Configure multiple identities, each with their own signature file. 2. From the command line, type "kmail --msg some_file.txt" or "kmail --body 'Some message'" 3. In the composer window, ensure that View->Identity is checked. 4. Select a different identity from the "Identity" drop-down box. Actual Results: 5. The signature in the message body does not get replaced with that of the new identity. Expected Results: 5. The signature in the message body should get replaced with that of the new identity. -- You are receiving this mail because: You are the assignee for the bug.

As expected, when KMail2 is running, I get notifications about new mail in these folders. I like these notifications! However, what seems to be missing is any obvious way of temporarily disabling them. Back with KMail1, if I closed the mail client, I would stop getting new mail notifications. But with KMail2, closing the program doesn't disable mail checking. Akonadi continues to monitor local and remote IMAP folders and to notify me of new mail. In many situations these notifications are unwanted (say, if I'm using my computer to give a public presentation and don't want the audience to see all my incoming mail headers, or if I'm just concentrating on some work and don't want to be bothered with pop-ups for a while). I'm not sure if this is a problem with KMail or with Akonadi. Perhaps when KMail starts up and shuts down, it could also tell Akonadi to start and stop issuing mail notifications? [kmail2] [Bug 261815] Update interval not followed
https://bugs.kde.org/show_bug.cgi?id=261815 Tristan Millerchanged: What|Removed |Added CC||psychon...@nothingisreal.co ||m --- Comment #3 from Tristan Miller --- Please consider reopening this bug. When someone enables interval mail checking in their account settings, they are often doing so because they don't want to be bothered by new mail notifications too often. (Note the operative term here is "too often" -- the interval timer provided in the account settings dialog is their way of decided how often they *do* want to be bothered.) If KMail ignores this setting for some folders in favour of the IDLE feature, then this is only going to confuse and irritate users who were expecting a reprieve from the new mail notifications. -- You are receiving this mail because: You are the assignee for the bug.

And even if they do, some filters have multiple actions that reference several different folders, so there is no way of knowing which action KMail2 is prompting them about. Please redesign the dialog prompts so that they display all the original details of the imported filter. Or if this is too complicated, just dispense with the prompts, and provide the user with a selectable/saveable report of missing information so that he or she can manually fix these filters after the import process is complete.
