I'm also experiencing this issue.

Can the patch to disable Google Contacts be added to the normally distributed
version? I'd think that this makes sense seeing that it currently doesn't work
at all, and patches are much more difficult on the system I'm using. (NixOS)
If this is likely to never be fixed, can you suggest to me an alternative or
fork of this that integrates with KDE well? I'd like to have this feature
working on my system ASAP.

-- Information about the crash:
Akonadi crashes and restarts by itself. The bug is somewhat annoying because
the crashes are extremely frequent. There are no apparent duplications or any
dataloss but sometimes akonadi does not manage to start so user may not be
aware that an idling system is without notification of new mail.
Frequency of this crash is two to 4 times a day, especially shortly after the
system startup in the morning. Having reached this frequency the problem seems
to stop. Possibly involved could be the automatic archiving process that is
expected to run in this time frame. Eventually one time a day the archiving
process does manage to archive, so I do not know if it restarts or if it runs
problem free. In all cases you can observe a relationship with the indexing
process of the database.

The reporter is unsure if this crash is reproducible.

Cannot decrypt packets with hybrid cipher without using symmetric passphrase,
even if the available private key exists.

STEP TO REPRODUCE
Encrypt a file using both a symmetric passphrase and public key(s)
simultaneously.

OBSERVED RESULT
If the passphrase is not inputted, kleopatra will interrupt the decryption
process.
If the passphrase is inputted but wrong, kleopatra will provide an message “Bad
passphrase”, while the log indicates the file has been successfully decrypted
using a private key.

[Akonadi] [Bug 492233] Kmail does not display IMAP accounts and Maildir folders in Folder views unless they contain a folder with unread messages

2024-08-31 Thread bugzilla_noreply
https://bugs.kde.org/show_bug.cgi?id=492233

--- Comment #3 from whatifgodwasoneo...@hotmail.com ---
Further Info:

I am NOT able to fix this issue permanently.

Whenever I manage to have akonadi "rescan" the maildir (or the IMAP folders),
they appear in Kmail and they are not greyed out anymore in the Akonadi
console.
But when akonadi restarts (either because it crashes & restarts itself, or
because I restart it with `akonadi restart`), those folders are greyed out
again and kmail cannot see them anymore.

I can make a new message appear in the folders, either in maildirs (by creating
a new msg or by just `touch`ing an existing one) or in IMAP accounts (by
manipulating the folders from another mail client), and then force a folder
rescan, but this is not a viable solution!
Another workaround I found is to fiddle directly with the DB:

```
update collectiontable
   set remoterevision = NULL
 where id in (list of affected collection ids)
;
```

and then request a rescan. This is faster, but hey... it's not viable.

It seems that akonadi is not able to persist the "correct" status in the DB, I
have no idea how to investigate further.

I tried both with mariadb and with postgresql backends: the behaviour is
consistent.
I have also tried with removing the search_db folder and also the whole
.local/share/akonadi folder: the behaviour persists.

At this point I think it's a bug... It is reproducible at each & every clean
start, with any backend!

Could someone help?!

--- Comment #1 from whatifgodwasoneo...@hotmail.com ---
Further info:

I think the issue is in Akonadi and not necessarily in kmail (or at least
_also_ in akonadi).

The folders that "disappear" (the ones "grayed out" in the DB Browser) are
missing the "inode/directory" and "message/rfc822" content types in the
"internals" tab of the "Folder properties" window.
However, if I look inside the DB, there indeed are records in the join table
"collectionmimetyperelation": I don't know why the DB Browser doesn't show
them.

If I add (manually) those mime types in the "Folder properties" window, then
the folders are not grayed out anymore and they do appear in KMail - but as
soon as the Akonadi indexer "touches" them, they disappear again and become
grayed out in the DB Browser and "loose" the mime types associations. And,
again, the "collectionmimetyperelation" table still contains the related
records!

I "fixed" the issue by removing the maildir folders from the disk, so that when
Akonadi restarts it re-creates them as empty dirs. Then, I have rsync'ed them
from a backup one-by-one, and so far it seems that everything stays there as it
should.

It will take at least another hour for the indexer to complete, then I'll know
if some folders keep disappearing or not.

1. Configure an IMAP account (using akonadi console also works)
2. Run Kmail 6.2.0

You only see the IMAP account if it contains UNREAD messages, otherwise KMail
hides them!
Accounts are also NOT visible in the "Move/Copy message to folder" window (when
you press M or C on a message in the message list), nor in the "Select folder"

It seems that all folders-related views in the whole application discard those

Accounts should be visible.

Seeing it in Kontact 6.1.2 in Arch. It also happens in Journal and To-Do lists.
I have been seeing it for awhile now, just never reported it because I was too
busy fixing up work-arounds for other KDE bugs on my system. Additionally, the
toolbar re-locks itself to that position, even if you do nothing more than
unlock the toolbar positions. The last time I've seen this many obvious bugs on
KDE was when they killed off the mature 3.x series in favor of the eye-candy in
KDE 4.0. It's almost like being back on Windows Vista.

akonadiserver (5.22.3 (22.12.3)) using Qt 5.15.8

Akonadi crashed while working within kdenlive—specifically when toggling off
then on, the "time remapping" option within the "view" tab, in an effort to
make the whole kdenlive window fit on my screen.
Every other open program also crashed—Firefox, Freetube & Dolphin.

[kontact] [Bug 491289] New: Cannot save certain settings

2024-08-05 Thread bugzilla_noreply
https://bugs.kde.org/show_bug.cgi?id=491289

Bug ID: 491289
   Summary: Cannot save certain settings
Classification: Applications
   Product: kontact
   Version: 6.1.2
  Platform: Fedora RPMs
OS: Linux
Status: REPORTED
  Severity: normal
  Priority: NOR
 Component: general
  Assignee: kdepim-bugs@kde.org
  Reporter: h...@runiq.de
  Target Milestone: ---

SUMMARY

I recently reinstalled my Kinoite system and I also installed the Kontact
suite. However, I cannot change a lot of settings, apparently because of a
weird interaction between Kontact and KNotes.

Whenever I attempt to change a Kontact setting (such as ‘Show component
sidebar’), the change is not saved and I’m getting an error message on the
console (see below).

STEPS TO REPRODUCE
1. Open Kontact from a terminal
2. Open Kontact settings
3. Uncheck 'Show component sidebar'
4. Click 'Apply'

OBSERVED RESULT

Component sidebar is still shown, error message is shown in terminal:

> Communication problem with KNotes. Error message was:
> “org.freedesktop.DBus.Error.UnknownObject” : " “No such object path
> ‘/KNotes’” "

EXPECTED RESULT

Component sidebar is hidden. No error message.

SOFTWARE/OS VERSIONS
Linux/KDE Plasma: Fedora Linux 40 Kinoite
KDE Plasma Version: 6.1.3
KDE Frameworks Version: 6.4.0
Qt Version: 6.7.2

ADDITIONAL INFO

I installed KNotes, but that didn’t help either.

I just want to add that this bug will also affect Microsoft Personal users in
the near future as Microsoft will disable Basic Authentication for personal
users on 2024-09-16 (source:
https://support.microsoft.com/en-us/office/modern-authentication-methods-now-needed-to-continue-syncing-outlook-email-in-non-microsoft-email-apps-c5d65390-9676-4763-b41f-d7986499a90d).
As far as I know & experimented so far, personal users cannot use the EWS
protocol (& have no admin they can ask for enabling it), which makes that even
more bad.

But, I can slightly understand why enabling XOAUTH2 for Microsoft Office 365 /
Personal as well might be not as simple as it may seem, because KMail will then
also need hard-coded settings for Microsoft’s OAuth2 endpoints, which includes
a per-application secret (which feels ridiculous as they can easily be
extracted, especially in the case of open-source software).

Renaming the `trash` folder is enough, you don't have to rename all of
`local-mail`. As a bonus, the renamed trash folder remains available inside
KMail, so you can still move the local mails somewhere else (e.g. the mailbox's
trash folder). Tested in kmail2 6.1.1 (24.05.1)

[korganizer] [Bug 489622] New: Many calendar notifications are show on setting the clock.

2024-07-02 Thread bugzilla_noreply
https://bugs.kde.org/show_bug.cgi?id=489622

Bug ID: 489622
Summary: Many calendar notifications are show on setting the
clock.
Classification: Applications
   Product: korganizer
   Version: 6.1.1
  Platform: Other
OS: Linux
Status: REPORTED
  Severity: normal
  Priority: NOR
 Component: general
  Assignee: kdepim-bugs@kde.org
  Reporter: bug2...@wolke7.net
  Target Milestone: ---

SUMMARY
If the HW clock gets set to a default date in the past by removing the battery
or deep discharge and the time gets updated for example by ntp, a huge amount
of notifications is generated.

STEPS TO REPRODUCE
1. Have a calendar with (a lot) expired entries.
2. Set the clock into the past of these entries
3. Use ntp to update the clock

OBSERVED RESULT
Notification sound played in a loop.
3 notification boxes shown, closing them opens the next ones.
(The notification boxes have different size, so closing them is really
annoying)

EXPECTED RESULT
No notifications of expired entries.

SOFTWARE/OS VERSIONS

KDE Plasma Version: 6.0.5
KDE Frameworks Version: 6.2.0
Qt Version: 6.7.1

ADDITIONAL INFORMATION
If I launch akregator forcing the dark mode via QT Web Engine env var, it works
as expected:
```
QTWEBENGINE_CHROMIUM_FLAGS="--blink-settings=darkModeEnabled=default" akregator
```
However, it should work without this hack. My desktop theme changes during the
day (via koi), and I'd like to enjoy this feature "dynamically".

This is a long-awaited feature for akregator, which is available starting from
v6.1.5 (24.05.0). Maybe it has not been thoroughly tested on all platforms?

Summary: Patch for calendar - Philippines holidays 2024
Classification: Frameworks and Libraries
   Product: frameworks-kholidays
   Version: 6.2.0
  Platform: unspecified
OS: Linux
Status: REPORTED
  Severity: task

Proposed holidays file for Philippines 2024

Frameworks currently lacks a holidays file for Philippines.
Attached file contains compiled date from Official Gazette of the Republic of
the Philippines.
Holidays in Philippines are subject to Presidential proclamations, so it needs
to be updated on a yearly basis upon new Presidential proclamations.
It also includes the updated school year dates.
I've attempted to verify the validity of the data with native citizens of the
Philippines.
I've tried to adhere to the format specified in
https://invent.kde.org/frameworks/kholidays/-/blob/master/holidays/file-format.txt
I'm posting this as a bug report to start a discussion on it before a merge
request can be opened.
Please feel free to point out any shortcomings or misinformation contained in
the attached file.

account name being user-specified, and ignored in both 'receiving' tab list,
and 'check mail' button pulldown menu

SUMMARY
1. 'Check Mail' button displays meaningless list of account titles to choose
from.
2. 'settings > configure kmail > accounts > receiving' ignores user specified
account names. Probably due to creation by import, but continues to ignore
after being changed. This is reflected in the meaningless list of account
titles in 1) above.

STEPS TO REPRODUCE
1. right click 'Check Mail' toolbar button

OBSERVED RESULT
almost all accounts are called POP3 Account, which is utterly useless when
trying to decide which account you want to check.

EXPECTED RESULT
display the 'Account Name'

Notice that QT_SCALE_FACTOR_ROUNDING_POLICY=RoundPreferFloor doesn't solve the
issue. The main issue is that the selected font in the configuration isn't
used. In KMail, if you go to Configuration / Configure KMail / Appearance /
Font and select "Message text", in Plasma 5, you could change the displayed
message font and size. In Plasma 6, you can't, it simply ignored.

The only thing you can change is, in General tab, the minimum size for the font
used

Sorry, I didn't see that this is on needinfo earlier.

It makes things unreadable to have all the times in the list doubled.

[kmail2] [Bug 487029] New: kmail uses media type literal packet in OpenPGP

2024-05-14 Thread bugzilla_noreply
https://bugs.kde.org/show_bug.cgi?id=487029

Bug ID: 487029
Summary: kmail uses media type literal packet in OpenPGP
Classification: Applications
   Product: kmail2
   Version: 6.0.2
  Platform: unspecified
OS: Linux
Status: REPORTED
  Severity: normal
  Priority: NOR
 Component: folders
  Assignee: kdepim-bugs@kde.org
  Reporter: theodor-andreas.boer...@gmx.de
  Target Milestone: ---

SUMMARY
When encrypting messages in OpenPGP/MIME format, kmail uses the format tag 'm'
in the literal data packet inside the OpenPGP Message, while in RFC 4880, only
are 'b', 't' and 'u' are defined. Because of that, some MUAs do not display the
decrypted message.
kmail changed from using 'b' to using 'm' between 5.24.5 and 6.0.2.

STEPS TO REPRODUCE
1. Compose an encrypted message.
2. Export the message, save it into an imap folder, or send it to another
mailbox.
3. Try to view the message in Mozilla Thunderbird.

OBSERVED RESULT
Thunderbird shows obscure error message.

EXPECTED RESULT
The message should be displayable by Thunderbird (and other MUAs).

ADDITIONAL INFORMATION
Relevant section in RFC 4880:
https://datatracker.ietf.org/doc/html/rfc4880#section-5.9
Draft for the 'm' format tag:
https://www.ietf.org/archive/id/draft-moscaritolo-openpgp-literal-01.html
You can use `gpg --list-packets` to find out which format tag was used in an
OpenPGP Message.
