My employer uses Microsoft's cloud services for email and I have no problems using Thunderbird to connect. In KMail I have it set to use SSL/TLS with plain authentication, the same as I use for Thunderbird. The server info reports: IMAP4 IMAP4REV1 AUTH=PLAIN UIDPLUS CHILDREN IDLE NAMESPACE LITERAL+ KMail reports that it is syncing folders but it appears to be stuck.
