[kmail2] [Bug 372973] missing Help handbook
https://bugs.kde.org/show_bug.cgi?id=372973 --- Comment #7 from Burkhard Lueck--- Fresh install of Ubuntu 16.04.01 (with the default Gnome desktop environment) in a VM. Then I installed KMail, KHelpcenter was not a dependency and not installed. The Help actions in KMail opened docs.kde.org. Next I installed KHelpcenter, now the Help actions in KMail opened KHelpcenter as expected. Due to https://bugs.kde.org/show_bug.cgi?id=374756 the correct docbooks was not displayed, but in fact Ubuntu got it right. This is clearly a openSUSE issue. -- You are receiving this mail because: You are the assignee for the bug.
[kmail2] [Bug 372973] missing Help handbook
https://bugs.kde.org/show_bug.cgi?id=372973 --- Comment #6 from Nick Levinson--- GUI/CLI followup (especially @Burkhard Lueck): Apparently, KHelpCenter is available but only through a command line interface (https://forums.opensuse.org/showthread.php/391430-Khelpcenter-for-OpenSuSE-where-do-I-find-it?p=1848523#post1848523) or the KDE Plasma Workspace (one graphical user interface), not the Gnome or IceWM desktop environment GUIs. I asked about the CLI preference at a forum (https://forums.opensuse.org/showthread.php/521603-why-need-CLI-console-to-use-GUI-KMail-Help?p=2803654#post2803654) before I knew it worked in KDE's DE but no one replied. Why isn't KHelpCenter working in whatever GUI desktop environment we happen to be using? Are you getting it in any GUI other than KDE? If not, then this may need an enhancement request somewhere, probably first within KDE to make KHelpCenter compatible with a competitor's GUI. An alternative would be a message that, instead of saying essentially that we can't use the help, would say to switch DEs. -- You are receiving this mail because: You are the assignee for the bug.
[kmail2] [Bug 372973] missing Help handbook
https://bugs.kde.org/show_bug.cgi?id=372973 --- Comment #5 from Nick Levinson--- I didn't remove it, as far as I know. I install everything in a distro, even stuff I don't want, specifically to preclude any dependency failure. I can ask a forum about why it might be missing. -- You are receiving this mail because: You are the assignee for the bug.
[kmail2] [Bug 372973] missing Help handbook
https://bugs.kde.org/show_bug.cgi?id=372973 Christoph Feckchanged: What|Removed |Added Status|UNCONFIRMED |RESOLVED Resolution|--- |DOWNSTREAM --- Comment #4 from Christoph Feck --- As comment #1 says, the default installation of OpenSUSE 13.2 has KHelpCenter installed. If you removed it and got no dependency warning, please report this to the bug tracker of your distribution. -- You are receiving this mail because: You are the assignee for the bug.
[kmail2] [Bug 372973] missing Help handbook
https://bugs.kde.org/show_bug.cgi?id=372973 --- Comment #3 from Nick Levinson--- Apparently I don't have KHelpCenter (it's not listed in the distro's Software app or when I search the apps on the laptop). Therefore, shouldn't the window say something about KHelpCenter, so users don't see a message that looks like a dead end and thus wind up trying to work without access to Help, maybe fruitlessly? -- You are receiving this mail because: You are the assignee for the bug.
