Hello fellas,
I have a similar problem after fresh new instal of 14.04 Lubuntu on HP
nc6120. Chose Lubuntu as it is lighter than Ubuntu for this machine. The
fan behaves as described by Jörg. Similarly psensor does not show fan at
all, while the temperatures it shows are frozen at boot level
It seems that the mute LED could be controlled by ALSA instead.

My config is a bit different than the one Kent describes, e.g. NVIDIA/Intel

I tested mainline 3.15.0-031500rc5-generic for about 2 days.
On that kernel, the machine ran hot due to nVidia optimus chip not
turned off by bumblebee.

I'm using a Samsung NP350E5C laptop and I've been having strange issues.
I gave up on Xubuntu 13.10 and went back to Xubuntu 13.04 until Xubuntu
14.04 LTS came out. I'd hoped that the strange issues had been resolved
but since doing a clean install I have been dogged by weird
I have the same problem, running 14.04 (but the problem also occurred
with the previous versions). My Ram is 4 Gb, Swap enabled.

Just installed and have been testing this kernal. My only issue is that
the touchpad is not disabled when I flip my screen so I get erratic
pointer behavior due to the back of the screen activating the touchpad.

Bryce, it seems that the trouble still exists.
Since I have switched to Debian wheezy, I do not have this problem any
more. Currently running kernel 3.13-0.bpo.1-amd64 on the same hardware
as allready reported here. Neither have I seen the

I'm already running with the 2.58 ever since i upgraded to 14.04 four
weeks ago. BTW: Given that the problem also appeared on quite different
hardware (bug 1107150) i doubt that it has anything to do with BIOS.
