Finally I've solved my problem by installing the 3.16 kernel form here:
http://kernel.ubuntu.com/~kernel-ppa/mainline/v3.16-utopic/
Now everything is working as intended, so I will work with that kernel
until Ubuntu 14.10 is released.

This is an old issue, I have found some case on UBUNTU from 8.04
(http://ubuntuforums.org/archive/index.php/t-766892.html)to 12.04 (an other

We're running 12.04 on Hyper V, and have now run into this problem.
Starting the hv-kvp-daemon-init start service fails silently:
sudo service hv-kvp-daemon-init start
hv-kvp-daemon-init start/running, process
Running the hv-kvp-daemon-init command direclty hightlights the version
This bug is missing log files that will aid in diagnosing the problem.
From a terminal window please run:
apport-collect 1362574
and then change the status of the bug to 'Confirmed'.
If, due to the nature of the issue you have encountered, you are unable
to run this command, please add a

synclient shows synaptics driver not loaded

Still trying to get 3.16.0-10 to run unity on Intel Core 2 Duo.
Many boots yesterday, just one time 3.16.0-10 ran just fine with 3D
hardware support. All the rest, I assume compiz has decided that the

Sorry for the late reply. I went through several steps to flash my bios and
for some reason freedos and several others were just not running
executables, even with unetbootin and rufus.
So, I finally just repartitioned and am dual booting windows and linux and
I flashed the bios. Here

Compiz is *not* part of the kernel. Compiz is deciding your hardware
doesn't support 3D because there is an issue in the video driver which
is failing the loading of OpenGL (the 3D). This is strictly an issue
with the video driver in the kernel and is causing Compiz to fail.
