I've tested this patch and I am able to mount a bcache device on top of
virtio disks without hangs or the original BUG_ON on startup. Please add
my 'Tested-By' in the patch upstream.

I've updated my bios with an ISO image to version 572.
After reboot, I wento to the update manager to check but the only
additional drivers proposed are those given by the PPA (see my fist
post).

Hi, this bug also affects me. The work around above (set rate to auto)
lets me work around it but is a pain to run every time I login.
I have a Packard Bell Easy Note TM laptop with an in-place upgrade of
Ubuntu 14.04, kernel 3.13.0-35, and am using the rtl8192se driver. My
wifi AP is a Virgin Me
linux-image-3.16.0-12 booted O.K. several times this morning.
I wouldn't know whether there is actually a fix for compiz or just whether the
timing race of compiz/x is better.
So as of 3.16.0-12 this problem has not reproduced over several
boots.
