(bug 1330530) the problem is not reproducible with kernel 3.13.y, so
unfortunately I can neither confirm nor deny whether your test kernel
fixes it. However, I would very much like to see the patch being
backported to 3.2.y.
well, it is hard to say whether it is fixed or not. For now, it seems
to have lasted longer than ever. Ie, it seems to be lasting long enough
that I could acutally use it.
I will mark it fixed upstream, and just change it back if I run into the
error again.

and is still at the 3.16.0-12 level.
The .iso boots to desktop as usual. No compiz/unity.

Both NFS client and server run this version of Ubuntu and kernel version.
Trying to transfer 500GB files from mdadm raid5 to NFS using lbzip2:

I think I can do this...it will probably take a few days, as there is a lot

I upgraded the wireless drivers for my router and the problem went away
(2+ days uptime now). Still perplexing why it was re-introduced in the
first place, and even more perplexing why wireless drivers on my router
