solves the issue.
I tried with the latest 4.3 kernel and the problem seems to be fixed,
both the EDID messages and the X11/GUI processes are not crashing
anymore.

I would say it's a false positive result with wpa-supplicant.
As the downgraded version does not guaranteed to work with the latest broadcom
driver.
Also, I tried again with the latest wpa-supplicant + latest broadcom driver and

This time I could not transfer data again, even with a lot of patience
(4.2.0/-15). The signal strength was 57-60%. The Windows driver on the
same system reaches over the same AP 100% and the connection is very

Using cpu hotplug to disable (offline) a cpu:
echo 0 > /sys/devices/system/cpu/cpu10/online
does not return.
Machine is usable, and cpu10 is marked as offline, but any test
scripts hangs because the "echo 0" never returned.
Doing bisect pointed to this commit id: a4aea5623d

* Attach the USB modem to the laptop
* Connect to the internet using the modem
* Disconnect from the internet
* Remove USB modem
* Attach USB modem
It doesn't get detected by the system, and I get kernel oops,

It's still not working with bcmwl 6.30.223.141 on 201103-7379, with the
