I've been having the same problems on a gigabyte p57 xcf3. Bug #1665530
also reports this. Currently I am running the latest bios for this
laptop, Ubuntu 16.10 and kernel 4.10.1-041001-generic.
Initially I did not have the "i8042.nomux=1" parameter.
David Dombrowsky, it will help immensely if you filed a new report with Ubuntu,
using the default repository kernel (not mainline/upstream/3rd party) via a
terminal:
ubuntu-bug linux

$ sudo mkdir -p /var/log/journal
$ sudo systemd-tmpfiles --create --prefix /var/log/journal
Then reboot the system, and add "drm.debug=0x0e" to kernel parameter?

I'm running Ubuntu 16.04.2 with kernel 4.8.0-41-generic on ASUS ux330ua
(Skylake i7-6500). The problem is still there. So the fix doesn't seem
to be included in kernel 4.8.*
dmesg | grep -i tpm
This bug shows up every time I boot linux on this laptop.

It is several months that this bug has been confirmed and still no fix
is available. This is the typical bug that prevent people to switch to

Have you tried various quirks on i8042 and atkbd? Like i8042.kbdreset=1
or atkbd.reset=1?

Sorry to say this fix arrived much too late. The system affected is

Hello Joseph,
I cannot test the issue as I do not have the laptop any more but
unfortunately the issue persits on my new laptop (Dell Latitude E5470):
the working version is 4.4.0-59.80 but with 4.4.0-62.83 and next the
problem comes back. I will post a separate bug for it.
