This issue doesn't start happening after update/upgrade. There is a need to install linux-hwe packages on xenial to get it started. It is present on bionic live-cd and on latest versions of xenial live-cds because of linux-hwe. Any non-hwe linux versions (<=4.4) and any previous doesn't show
