Running bionic with 4.15.0-34-generic on T460s, a pretty good repro for
me is
1. Place two fingers on the touchpad
2. Try to press a button while keeping two fingers on the touchpad
For me, evtest reports of button events get very erratic when two
fingers are kept on the touchpad. When I do not

I've tested with mainline kernel and it is crashes as well. Also I've
tried booting previous Ubuntu releases (4.15.0-20-generic,
4.15.0-29-generic, 4.15.0-32-generic, 4.15.0-33-generic) and bug happens
with all of them. This is strange because I've used these kernels
without any problems for

My perspective suggests that this bug might have came from upsteam.
I'm running DEBIAN 9 in VMware Workstation 12.5.9 build-7535481 and
having this exact same issue.
AFFECTED = Linux 4.9.0-8-686-pae #1 SMP Debian 4.9.110-3+deb9u4
(2018-08-21) i686 GNU/Linux
NOT affected = Linux 4.9.0-7-686-pae
This is a default feature of Ubuntu 18. I had the same problem and solve
it downloading the gnome-tweak-tool. In the "Keyboard & Mouse Settings"
changed the Fingers option by Area option.

Tested on Dell Precission 5520 with Ubuntu 18.04. This suffer from a
consistently high power usage in the Intel (Power saving) mode.
Proposed Packages install fine. After reboot switching Prime profile did
not seem applied with logout+login. Reboot was required. After a further
'apt upgrade'

obviously i've tested this with 32/33/34 a dozen or so times, but the
performance regression shows up in all of them, so i've only copied that
particular one. the best (i.e. "least bad for the bugged kernel") result
so far was "only" -18%, and most runs are down by 25-30%.

I upgraded to version 34 of the Ubuntu kernel with the "apt-get upgrade"
command, and the problem was solved. So I think the kernel version of
the kernel.ubuntu.com site doesn't fit into the patch, so can we say
that it's Ubuntu's own behavior?
