I've hit the same problem on 32bit 14.04 with both latest 3.13.0-149 and 4.4.0-127 kernels. I can confirm it works with 4.4.0-119. I could provide some kernel version bisection (both 3.13 and 4.4), but only over the weekend. These are production machines during the week :/ -- You received this

I've tested it with '4.1.0-040100rc3-generic #201505102036'. I've forced shutdown 4 times and each time it booted up fine with this kernel. Then, 5th time I tried booting 3.19.0 and it failed. I rebooted with '4.1.0-040100rc3-generic #201505102036' and it booted just fine. So, it looks like this
