I cloned your repo and found the driver, however I could not find
5.15.0-74.81 to install.
Any thoughts? 5.15.0-74 does not even have smartpqi.
5.19 has the older driver.

I downloaded and install recent kernel as requested in comment 3. This
made no difference. Computer would not finish booting. Booting through
recovery mode per initail report works just fine.

I don't know if this is the same issue or not. I have a Dell Optiplex
745 that will hang while booting (blank screen). It will however boot
fine if I select the 'advanced option for Ubuntu' from the boot loader
and boot into 'recovery mode.' Once booted into 'recovery mode',
selecting the 'resume
Same for me. Sony vaio SVF1521KSNB with ubuntu 13.10 as well as 14.04.
ANy fix is appreciated .

I also observe this on trusty server amd64 (release).
Its a bit hard to diagnose, it just locks up.
two systems... one is zotac z77-itx, and the other is gigabyte brix. in
both cases, only usb keyboard is available. both hang the same way.
