Hi, so I had this same exact issue. using 5.4 allowed me to get into Ubuntu, but now my Wifi driver is broken. Do you guys happen to known if the Netgear A6210 has a driver that will work with this Kernel?

My machine goes into a frozen black screen. The default kernel after the update (5.3.0-23-generic) does not succeed in booting. If I select the older kernel, 5.0.0-36-generic, grub does go through and succeeds booting up. System is a Dell XPS 15 9550 with Ubuntu Dual Boot. GRUB version 2.04-1ubuntu12. The Windows partition does work properly, and I am able to boot into it. Please advice on how to proceed with a fix, or if an update pushed to grub will fix this issue.
