Hi Daniel, well first of all I sent this bug because I saw the option and I just checked. Thougth it was something automatic and anyone would reply, so instead thanks to you!
After you mentioned, I just realized my laptop has an miniDP connector. My monitor doesnt have DisplayPort, so I used an VGA<->miniDP adapter, a friend had a unit of exactly this item https://www.ebay.es/itm/353392052156 It didnt work. My laptop screen went black and nothing in the monitor (made sure to select VGA input). (Im not sure if your concern about VGA still affects here, as the output port is miniDP, but still is VGA in the other end) I just made sure that I can connect through VGA well and with FullHD, in a Windows 10 partition in this same laptop, so just discarded the option the VGA port itself is bad. I dont understand why Linux and graphics is so hard! Thanks a lot for your time, highly appreciated. -- You received this bug notification because you are a member of Kernel Packages, which is subscribed to linux in Ubuntu. https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/1987040 Title: [i915] Max resolution for FullHD monitor is 1024x768 Status in linux package in Ubuntu: Confirmed Bug description: I have 1 external monitor, and the max resolution for this FullHD monitor which I can configure is 1024x768 ProblemType: Bug DistroRelease: Ubuntu 22.04 Package: xorg 1:7.7+23ubuntu2 ProcVersionSignature: Ubuntu 5.15.0-46.49-generic 5.15.39 Uname: Linux 5.15.0-46-generic x86_64 ApportVersion: 2.20.11-0ubuntu82.1 Architecture: amd64 BootLog: Error: [Errno 13] Permission denied: '/var/log/boot.log' CasperMD5CheckResult: pass CompositorRunning: None CurrentDesktop: ubuntu:GNOME Date: Fri Aug 19 08:40:15 2022 DistUpgraded: Fresh install DistroCodename: jammy DistroVariant: ubuntu ExtraDebuggingInterest: Yes GraphicsCard: Intel Corporation 3rd Gen Core processor Graphics Controller [8086:0166] (rev 09) (prog-if 00 [VGA controller]) Subsystem: Lenovo 3rd Gen Core processor Graphics Controller [17aa:21f3] InstallationDate: Installed on 2022-06-04 (75 days ago) InstallationMedia: Ubuntu 22.04 LTS "Jammy Jellyfish" - Release amd64 (20220419) MachineType: LENOVO 2349AV6 ProcKernelCmdLine: BOOT_IMAGE=/boot/vmlinuz-5.15.0-46-generic root=UUID=b8deb0ab-b1f3-469e-85fe-3cf4a56dc624 ro quiet splash vt.handoff=7 SourcePackage: xorg UpgradeStatus: No upgrade log present (probably fresh install) dmi.bios.date: 01/21/2016 dmi.bios.release: 2.70 dmi.bios.vendor: LENOVO dmi.bios.version: G1ETB0WW (2.70 ) dmi.board.asset.tag: Not Available dmi.board.name: 2349AV6 dmi.board.vendor: LENOVO dmi.board.version: Not Defined dmi.chassis.asset.tag: BB70374050 dmi.chassis.type: 10 dmi.chassis.vendor: LENOVO dmi.chassis.version: Not Available dmi.ec.firmware.release: 1.13 dmi.modalias: dmi:bvnLENOVO:bvrG1ETB0WW(2.70):bd01/21/2016:br2.70:efr1.13:svnLENOVO:pn2349AV6:pvrThinkPadT430:rvnLENOVO:rn2349AV6:rvrNotDefined:cvnLENOVO:ct10:cvrNotAvailable:skuLENOVO_MT_2349: dmi.product.family: ThinkPad T430 dmi.product.name: 2349AV6 dmi.product.sku: LENOVO_MT_2349 dmi.product.version: ThinkPad T430 dmi.sys.vendor: LENOVO version.compiz: compiz N/A version.libdrm2: libdrm2 2.4.110-1ubuntu1 version.libgl1-mesa-dri: libgl1-mesa-dri 22.0.1-1ubuntu2.1 version.libgl1-mesa-glx: libgl1-mesa-glx N/A version.xserver-xorg-core: xserver-xorg-core 2:21.1.3-2ubuntu2.1 version.xserver-xorg-input-evdev: xserver-xorg-input-evdev N/A version.xserver-xorg-video-ati: xserver-xorg-video-ati 1:19.1.0-2build3 version.xserver-xorg-video-intel: xserver-xorg-video-intel 2:2.99.917+git20210115-1 version.xserver-xorg-video-nouveau: xserver-xorg-video-nouveau 1:1.0.17-2build1 To manage notifications about this bug go to: https://bugs.launchpad.net/ubuntu/+source/linux/+bug/1987040/+subscriptions -- Mailing list: https://launchpad.net/~kernel-packages Post to : kernel-packages@lists.launchpad.net Unsubscribe : https://launchpad.net/~kernel-packages More help : https://help.launchpad.net/ListHelp
