I've just checked that all the same modules are loaded when using the
mainline kernel. Apart from some new modules that appear, only
snd_page_alloc is loaded when using the ubuntu kernel, but not when
using the mainline kernel.

the issue.

I tried a "echo 1 > /sys/power/pm_trace && pm-suspend". Suspend failed
(frozen with black screen), but the RTC is unchanged.
