[Kernel-packages] [Bug 1743027] Re: error loading realtime clock since upgrading to 17.10

2018-03-12 Thread Peter Milley
A bug has been filed with the kernel developers here: https://bugzilla.kernel.org/show_bug.cgi?id=199033 Also, I have confirmed that disabling CONFIG_WDAT_WDT and re-compiling the kernel, as Alexandre suggested, does allow the RTC to run properly. ** Bug watch added: Linux Kernel Bug Tracker

The fix in #308 also worked for my Z50-70. Installing the mainline 4.14.9 kernel unlocked the BIOS and allowed for changes to be saved and I can boot from USB again. Also, I then reverted to the "fixed" Ubuntu kernel (4.13.0-21-generic #24-Ubuntu SMP) and the BIOS is still unlocked and

Update from an affected user. I'm running a Lenovo Z50-70 and have had this bug since upgrading 17.04 to 17.10 in October. However, I am one of the lucky ones who can still boot both Windows 10 and Ubuntu. I can't boot from CD, or USB and connect make any changes to the BIOS settings. I can
