I had similar problem on a gaming PC, I'm on Ubuntu 5.11.0-46-generic
kernel. I renamed pnvm file, rebooted and it worked for me. Bluetooth
also seems to be working for me. Any idea when will it be fixed?

Running embedded hardware. After updates, the system hangs on reboot

This system has run various levels of Ubuntu 16.04 LTS and Ubuntu 16.04
LTS with HWE Kernel. This is the first major problem encountered.

and if there's a workaround (e.g. lower the speed via configuration -

pulseaudio assume surround21 is four channels since buffer time is half
of stereo
why alsa lib surround21 did not specity any channel ?

However, this will just add Surround 2.1 support for stuff that already
is 2.1 in source material (well, 5.1 will be downmixed to 2.1, but
normal stereo will not be upmixed, so no sound will be heard on the
subwoofer).
Does it mean that test with 5.1 downmix to surround21 ?

Josh, what model of computer do you have? Similarily to Riyas, I have
the Thinkpad L440, and the card has been working well for me for two
days.

The fix is a modified kernel itself; there seems to be no need to
separately install the kernel mentioned by Matt Ramir, as my wireless
card is now fixed just by installing the kernel binary mentioned by
Frances Hocutt. Thanks for the fix!

those Asus laptop only use alc663 codec , as one of the volume control
is used by headphone and it won't support 5.1
