holidays and it didn't work. But was not able to apport-collect the data
due to problems with my wifi.
Now I read the post by Sarah Sharp about the xHCI issues (
As the BIOS update is only possible with Windows 8 I'm not able to
perform the update on this machine.

Since the update to 3.8.0-28 no external USB highspeed devices are
mounted anymore. Falling back to 3.8.0-27 solves the problem on two
separate machines.
It seems that at least sometimes the device gets mounted after more than
6 minutes (see attached syslog).

Christopher, I can't update the BIOS as the only update utility is for
Windows 8.
And I can reproduce this behavior also on this machine:
Acer Aspire One AO756 with the newest BIOS (1.09 -- 2012/12/11)
The bug is a regression in 3.8.0-28 as it was working on both machines
prior to this kernel.
