This has been fixed in Debian for 5.10~rc7. Still not fixed in Ubuntu as
of 5.10.1.

I've tried everything mentioned thus far, and nothing seems to be working.
I have a setting in the BIOS where I can toggle between Basic/Advanced
Touchpad, but the BIOS settings are not saved for next boot. I read somewhere
else that setting it to Basic would fix it.

Confirmed on 4.10.0-13 and -15 on an i5 2500k using Firefox nightly
builds from various days of the past week or two, and nvidia 378.13
driver.
Happens "randomly" indeed, but always after Firefox has been running for
some time.
