I also have a T440s and i'm also disappointed with the 2 problems. The trackpad is broken for the 2nd time and the wireless card. ... My x200 has no Linux compatibility problem so I didn't care about wireless card model when I bought my T440s... I can compare this 2 generations of thinkpad :
