Looks like I have the same problem on a Sony Vaio SVP132A1CL,
ubuntustudio 14.04.3 LTS.

This is definitely not fixed, and continues to persist on every version
of Ubuntu from 12.04 to 14.04. My workaround (linked above) still works.

If it had indeed gone away (it was still present for me in 13.10), it
has returned in 14.04 beta2.
Machine is an HP Folio 13.

This seems to have been fixed some time ago. At least fixed in Ubuntu
13.10 saucy.
