I can't check whether trusty's alx kernel module works with suspend now as I don't have the hardware. If anyone wants to try, run sudo chmod 0 /usr/lib/pm-utils/sleep.d/50unload_alx to disable the workaround, then try to suspend/resume. Run sudo chmod 755 /usr/lib/pm-utils/sleep.d/50unload_
