Ok, I had her run the release kernel (-23) and the issue is there too:

We have two options to bisect since this appears to be fixed in linux-
generic-lts-saucy. We can perform a standard bisect to find the commit
that introduced this bug. Or since it is possibly fixed in Saucy, we
can run a "Reverse" bisect to identify the fix there that fixes this.
